Has anyone been able to get Dexed working on Linux?

Post by mandarpatil »

I'm trying to get Dexed (Yamaha DX7 software clone) installed but I can't figure it out from the instructions on the github page, . I am able to install all the dependencies but then I get to where it says >cd Builds/Linux >make CONFIG=Release >install -Dm755 build/Dexed.so /usr/lib/vst/Dexed.so
This doesn't make any sense because it hasn't even told me to download any install files. Where do I get these files from? What directory is it supposing I'm in before I cd into Builds/Linux? Usually getting stuff to work on Linux is fairly straightforward, but I can't seem to find any good instructions on installing Dexed.

Can you link to the github page you're referring to? I saw https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed but I don't see such instructions there.

I suspect they expect you to download or clone the github repository that contains the documentation you're reading.

In DISTRHO-ports you can find a LV2 version that works and compiles pretty easily :D

This is a fresh install of. Ubuntu studio . I gave up on dexed because I own a TX81Z so in terms of sound generation I already have that covered.

Best regards a

What's worth a try:

- Dexed inside of Carla
- Hexter

Linux – MOTU UltraLite AVB – Qtractor – http://suedwestlicht.saar.de/

On ubuntu 20.4, the vst version from dishtro
https://distrho.sourceforge.io/ports.php
works just fine in Ardour , and even in Waveform11

I did not use Dexed yet in bigger projects. However, I install the PC version with wine and converted it with LinVst and this worked fine. I work with Bitwig and LV2 plugins are not yet supported 100%, I think. They load, but have audio crackles; at least on my system.
