Hi !
Trying to connect Ardour with Jack...
Distro: Linux Mint
Interface: Behringer UCG 103 link cable (via usb)
With ALSA it works perfect.
For some stuff I want to try like Guitarix, I need to get it to work with Jack.
Got Qjackctl running without errors. In the settings I have it on realtime, and the hw:CODEC (is my usb interface).
However, in the screen to connect the in/outs I cannot see it appearing.
When starting Ardour, he does seem to connect with Jack, in both situation when I start jack before or after I started Ardour.
However, when I want to continue, he gives the message that it did not load successfully.
When I start a new session in Ardour, he says he cannot start new session. *sigh*
There's nothing wrong with user/group settings neither.
It's probably something with Jack. I always had problems with connecting these things, that's why I'm using just ALSA now.
Anyone can help?

Probably a second jackd already running (through jackdbus or something) connected to your internal soundcard with some low-res default settings so Ardour can't connect a full session to it? Just guessing..

No, not that I know about.
Even if I've closed jack and start ardour, it connects to jack, and then gives error when opening the ardour session.

General note: On the "Advanced" tab you can set "Input Device" and "Output Device" to "default" in most cases.
As an alternate troubleshooting strategy here, you could perhaps spin-up a live DVD of KXStudio and reattempt things--Live DVD KXStudio should have Jack, Ardour and Guitarix ready to test, I'm pretty sure. Alternately, alternately, you could spin-up a VirtualBox or KVM (libvirt) based test environment. If you find things to work properly in either case, you might be better off to install an another distro for your audio workstation.

Re: Jack & Ardour
No, put the stuff on default, not working.
There were no jack sessions running each time before, I killed them all via terminal
Did not try the KXStudio yet for now, nor the VirtualBox.
Did try KXStudio and UbuntuStudio and Guitarinux once, without much succes.
But I cannot complain because I can record some stuff already just with ALSA. It's a giant leap for me

Re: Jack & Ardour
At the moment, I'm running Reaper DAW, natively in Linux Mint.
Works out of the box, with ALSA, no more jack hassle

Re: Jack & Ardour
Try Tabula Rasa.
If a plugin is no longer installed, ardour notifies you and creates a dummy for the missing plugin.
Code: Select all
mv .config/ardour5/ .config/ardour5-BAK
