Zynewave Podium x64 Linux with WINE bundled

Post by DiViNiTY »

I bundled Podium Free https://www.zynewave.com/ with WINE https://www.winehq.org/ - it should run on all Linux x64 Distros. :)
Download:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/496k9j290 ... 64_r01.zip ~114MB

No installation needed. Execute the Script "Run_Zynewave_Podium.sh" and it should run Podium Free.
It will make a folder in your Home Directory: "~/.wine-ZynewavePodium" so it does not interfere with an existing WINE (~/.wine) installation(if there is one).
WINE is highly experimental and i've not tested all functions of Zynewave Podium with WINE - it may have bugs or crashes - keep that in mind.
I tested this with Ubuntu, Fedora and Arch Linux.

Plz report your experience with this 1st release if you try it.

I (for one) didn't know what a Zynwave Podium was. And I don't use WINE stuff so I had never looked at your post.

Are you the developer? Or an avid user? Do you like it? What's special about it? Those details might inspire people to check it out if you're looking for feedback.

Is Podium still being developed? The latest installer is from 2014.
I just installed it, to be fair, in a fully working wine 2.11, where reaper is quite happy,
and running Podium instantly locks up the computer, forcing a logout.

What wine version is in your download?

I'm not a Developer but i like the Zynewave Podium Software so i made this bundle with WINE. And i like to have my Apps portable, just unzip and run them.
Zynewave Podium is one of the best Sequencers out there in my opinion and it is free even for commercial use.

@glowrak guy
I don't know if Podium is still in development. Can you post a log when trying to start Podium with WINE?
I used WINE 2.10 x64 for my bundle.

The terminal output lists about 20 repeated lines of

'libpng warning: Ignoring gAMA chunk with gamma=0'

before everything locks up.

I installed a newer libpng, and libpng3,
but still got the same results.
I didn't see anything that seems related
in /var/log texts.

I don't know what's the problem with your WINE version and Podium. I never had any issue with WINE and Podium before.
Did you try my bundle instead?

Often the way a gui is coded, is at the heart of such issues.
I've got no problem with windows Reaper in wine, or linux Reaper.
I won' be able to try your package for a few weeks.
Your bundle is a clever way to present such a daw.

A new Podium version has just been released, good news.

I hadn't seen this thread before.

I just downloaded and ran it:

Code: Select all

$> ./Run_Zynewave_Podium.sh
Failed to execute process './Run_Zynewave_Podium.sh'. Reason:
exec: Exec format error
The file './Run_Zynewave_Podium.sh' is marked as an executable but could not be run by the operating system.

Hi Luc!
Which OS do your have? Do other *.sh shell scripts work?
Seems you have not /bin/bash or /bin/sh as interpreter in your Linux OS.
Try to launch Podium with "bash ./Run_Zynewave_Podium.sh" or "sh ./Run_Zynewave_Podium.sh"

Well, my default shell is fish, so maybe that explains it. Maybe the script lacks a hashbang line.

Anyway, I ran it again with 'sh' specifically and it ran. It looks rather awkward and there isn't much I can achieve with it, but I haven't tried hard. I will another day. Kind of busy now.

Thanks.

I updated "Zynewave Podium Free" DAW for newest WINE 3.1 version.
Download for Linux x64:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/2s8dd2z2j ... 64_r02.zip ~128,5MB
Unzip and run the file "Run_Zynewave_Podium.sh" on your favorite Linux x64 Distro.
