Ardour doesn't fit on screen
I use 16" CRT monitor I bought in 2002 which runs in 1024x768 resolution. The problem is that Ardour window is too big and doesn't fit. Is there a setting to make it smaller?
Re: Ardour doesn't fit on screen
It's an old problem. I used to use a netbook with that same resolution, and I had problems with Ardour only (no other program whatsoever). I googled and found other people complaining about that, too. I found the developer saying no, it can't be changed, it wouldn't make sense to change, etc.
I suggest that you give up. I had an old monitor picking up dust, I hooked it up to the netbook and solved the problem. You just can't use Ardour in a mobile setup. And, of course, you have to have a larger monitor to spare.

Yeah, Ardour and one Calf plugin are the only ones that don't fit on my screen. Too bad their devs don't care about usability.
Re: Ardour doesn't fit on screen
Try scaling the GUI and fonts. In ardour4: Menu: Edit --> Preferencies --> GUI tab --> GUI and font scaling. For ardour2 it will be in a slightly different place but I know there is also the option, as I used it in the past when I had the same problem as you describe in a netbook.

Re: Ardour doesn't fit on screen
Nope doesn't change the window size which is like twice my screen.
Hmm I've just clicked "maximize" and it looks like it adjusted itself. Now I need to make a light theme so I can see what's inside this pitch black blob.

Re: Ardour doesn't fit on screen
On my netbook with Xcfe I set the top and bottom toolbars to have a hide icon. It's sometimes useful to get some extra pixels in height when I need it.

Yes, try Font Scaling: 90 or so. Then maximise the window as FaTony did and I had forgotten. In 2.8. Do you mean this?
Window -> Preferences, tab Misc

Hi!
On some Monitors you can override the Screen Resolution so it is higher then the maximum normal Resolution.
Run "xrandr -q" and see what the absolute maximum Screen Resolution is.
Here is a Video:

See the Description for this Video for a command. (you have to enter a second command to switch back)
This does not work on all Monitors.

Re: Ardour doesn't fit on screen
My monitor goes up to 1600x1200 but at the cost of 60 Hz refresh rate which makes it really hard on the eyes.

Re: Ardour doesn't fit on screen
I don't think I'm gonna experiment with my monitor. I only remember refresh rate of 1024x768 which is 85 Hz and I had to mess with xrandr to get that. Funny thing, a proprietary driver doesn't even support my monitor.
