Hi, musicians. There is a question about Rosegarden.
I created a song with four different instruments and all four instruments are played at the same time in Rosegarden. So this works correctly. In order to play the song on a regular audio player, you must export it into wav, ogg, mp3 or another format. In Rosegarden you can only export it to midi. So I converted the midi file after that with Sound Converter to wav. But after that I only hear three instruments, so one instrument is missing. What is going wrong?
I use Rosegarden in combination with Qsynth.

[SOLVED] convert from Rosegarden to wav audio file
I found a solution. Don't use Sound Converter. Instead open a terminal, change directory (cd) to your midi-file and type and substitute input.mid with the name of your midi-file.
Code: Select all
timidity -OwS input.mid -o output.wav

You can use JACK to route sound from synth to Rosegarden and record it on the audio track.

Re: convert from Rosegarden to wav audio file
rosegarden usually uses external synths. So they need to be piped into it.beck wrote:Isn't there an export function in rosegarden? (like in lmms or hydrogen) That would surprise me.
If you have audacity, with that it is always possible to record the sound that the soundcard play's (rosegarden in your case).
I keep loving audacity.

Re: convert from Rosegarden to wav audio file
I tried to use Rosegarden with JACK, but it did not work. I am glad, that finally the correct configuration of Qsynth together with Rosegarden functionates halfway. However the CPU is on 100% often, which leaves when logging in to Linux again without logging out.FaTony wrote:You can use JACK to route sound from synth to Rosegarden and record it on the audio track.

Re: convert from Rosegarden to wav audio file
Have Rosegarden play your song and choose JACK/Rosegarden as input in Audacity and record it.
Audacity can export wav, flac, mp3 ...

Not sure about necrobumping etiquette here, but I made it with Cadence in Render app.
Actually, I manage to make Rosegarden work at all, with Cadence and QSynth.
