[solved]nanokontrol2 not recognized by jackdbus --> ardour 4

Post by calimerox »

Hi there, I love the new ardour4 and I have a problem : I cant connect the korg nanokontrol to it cause it doesnt seem to be found by jack.. i did start jack with the -X alsa_midi option, etc, but it doesnt seem to get recognized... it s not appearing in the qjackctl dialog.. any suggestions what i can try? I use jack-dbus 0.124.1-3 on a manjaro system ... thanks"!!

i sometimes have to manually modprobe the snd_usb_audio driver in order to see my nanokey.

$ sudo modprobe snd_usb_audio

Make sure the midi driver on the lower right corner of qjackctl's setup is set to "seq".

DepreTux thank you for the hint, i did what you suggested, but still no nanokontrol visible ;(

I just tried with bitwig and the nanokontrol gets fully recognized, ....

i also rebooted and tried again, no success..

I tried to run the device with bitwig and it works.. so i think the controler itself is ok.. any thoughts? seems everyone else is enjoying the nanokontrol flawlessly ;) ;(

jack1's alsa_midi driver (which supercedes old -Xseq and a2jmidid altogether) has one tiny flaw that prevents it from (de)listing jack-midi ports on (un)plugging MIDI h/w devices after the jack-server is started.

you'll have to plug your nanokontrol2 *before* starting jackd(bus) or else, restart your jack-server after you plug it in.

btw. there's a pending pull-request on github.com/jackaudio/jack1 for solving this issue: [alsa_midi] fix hotplug device (de)enumeration #18.

As of lately there have been several posts that describe a problem with alsa MIDI devices. For some reason snd_seq_midi is not loaded in certain kernel versions
It won't harm, I would try:

sudo modprobe snd_seq_midi
