solved (qtractor/jalv 'pretty name' needed jackd update)

qtractor 1:0.6.6 in my Mint 17 won't start, gives error message:

'qtractor: undefined symbol: JACK_METADATA_PRETTY_NAME'

I have jackd 1.9.9.5+20130622git7de15e7a-1ubuntu1

qt system items are 4:4.8.5+git192-g085f851+dfsg-2ubuntu4 and
qt 5 things are 5.2.1+dfsg-1ubuntu14.2

Other jackd audio apps are working as expected, Ardour4, Carla,
Hydrogen, Yoshimi, U-he, Guitarix

No compiled apps on the system, just synaptic repository installs.

You need to update jackd!

qtractor works fine in a different distro that also has an old jackd.
An upgrade may be beneficial, but the jackd I have is working as needed,
so I'll wait to see if there is some specific information related to the
error, or latest qtractor dependency.

The related information is, that your distro have build qtractor/jalv against a newer jack-lib then the one you use.
JACK_METADATA_PRETTY_NAME is recently new (1 or 2 month, didn't remember correctly now) in jack, and your jackd simply didn't support it (not implemented), hence, the message
undefined symbol

update to the version witch comes with your distro.

FYI I think Mint's theory of only installing some updates but skipping others is completely wrong.
So many issues could be avoided if Mint didn't do this...

Mmm, trouble like this one here could be simply avoided by a proper set dependency field.
Usually, there shouldn't be a problem with single updated packages, if so, I would consider it a bug in the package.

edit: updated the jackd items and the issue is resolved.
jalv will be very useful, at any point in a session,
from building a special sound, to adding some missing element
while mastering.
