Hi, I want to produce microtonal music,19edo in particular. I can get zynaddsubFX to make 19edo sound using midi input, but editing the input is difficult since most sequencers assume 12edo, so using their piano roll is confusing.

I wish to be able to edit the look of the piano roll, changing the color of the notes so the naturals are white, and sharps and flats some different color, or being able to put custom labels on each notes (C, C#, Db, D, D#, Eb, ...)

The only program I heard of that can to this is Reaper, but it isn't free or or available on linux.

Is there any programs sequencers that can do this? Also, I'm open to any other suggestions related to this topic.

p.s. It would be great if the program supported Jack-Midi and Jack Transport.

You might try the linux Bitwig demo, rumour has it, that the midi editing is really good.
The Jackass vst plugin from falkTX might let you run Yoshimi LV2 in bitwig.
Alsa virmidi might even let you connect direct zyn or yoshimi inside bitwig.
The internal routing options in the linux version have greatly improved since release.

Reaper is free to test without limits for 60 days, and the semi-pro license is $60,
so you could test/experiment while saving up the $60. Solid like granite in
a good wine setup
And there is a win vst version of zynaddsubfx available.

There are other Csound-based environments to recommend: CsoundAC, CsoundQT, Winsound, AVSynthesis, etc.

ZynAddSubFX can use microtonal scales.
You can define them in the "Scales" (!) window, or import them from .scl or .kbm files.

Thank you. I've been looking for MIDI editing that is "really good" on Linux for some time now...

It is really good. I was suffiently impressed with the demo to purchase the full version, in fact.

It is the ONLY DAW on Linux that isn't just another brainless drum loop mixer. It actually has provision for expression and phrasing, a good tool for the thoughtful musician.

It's the closest thing to CuBASE (which I miss) that I've seen on Linux.

Now if I could just find a good orchestral setup...

BTW the microtonal feature gives you everything you want. Think of pitchbend but with precise control for precision trills on flutes, French horn pitch bends, etc...
