Re: Releasing the "source code" of music
What? Buddhism 6000 years old? How can that be if Siddhartha Gautama lived a few thousand years later?

Re: Releasing the "source code" of music
My thoughts on that might me due to me being a christian and not totally understandable to agnostics;) When God created the universe and other things - what kind of source code should he have released? No one would ever be able to understand it due to the fact that there are no other Gods;) I think ...

I get the same error message with snd-usbmidi-lib.ko
Drumfix wrote:i think you need to insmod snd-usbmidi-lib.ko first, because snd-usb-audio depends on that one

Re: Just Want a Basic DAW Setup - Please Help
Thank you for your responses. Does Ubuntu / Mint mean I should choose either Ubuntu or Mint?. And is this different from the suggestion further above for Ubuntu Studio? Is there an option that has the RT and latency stuff pre-configured somehow, or made easier to deal with? I wouldn't bother with R...

Re: Decent USB dongle for Guitarix
on ebay you find countless 5 Dollar China copies of the Behringer guitar link. I once bought one of these. Worked well with guitarix - all plug and play! - sounded great but with a little more noise floor than higher end devices. It wouldn't be a problem in a band mix though (a real amplifier can be...

Re: ThinkPad T500/W500: good enough for my use case?
Stupid question: Have you enabled multi-thread in Ardour (on default it's giving you all but one core performance which isn't good in a dual core;) I would also advise you to have a go with AV-Linux - it's basically debian, but super-optimised for audio processing. Gives me more audio capabilities t...

Re: Tips for new laptop
Hi Hellska,
what about trying AV-Linux? Much faster than Ubuntu. If you pair it up with more Gigs of Ram and an SSD? Apart from that I would recommend getting a refurbished Lenovo t400/t410/t420 or t500-520. Even some of the t430s/t530s do have firewire.
