Plugins gone from Qtractor
Suddenly a lot of my plugins aren't showing up in Qtractor anymore. This includes Calf (even Calf-git and Calf-ladspa, when I tried installing those), MDA plugins, C* plugins and maybe more. The plugins all show up in Carla and Ardour, and seem to be working as usual. But in Qtractor they're suddenl...

Re: Jack Sink and web browsers
Could you try opening pavucontrol and on configuration tab ,set every hardware device to "OFF"? That way pulse will use "dummy" device as default and as soon jackSink starts it will switch automatically ;) This is in fact a very simple workaround. Good thinking! It's what I did ...

Re: Help with software suggestion
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I can suggest anyway:
For browsing my quite huge sample/sound archive, I use Quod Libet.
It's simple to add your sample directories, simple to search, simple to browse lots of samples.
At least for me it is a really useful tool.

Re: Jack Sink and web browsers
You would want default set to "Jack sink" and not "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" and "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" as fallback device in pavucontrol Output Devices Great, this was really everything I needed to do (even though I also ate the cookie). It's quite possibl...

Jack Sink and web browsers
I use Jack all the time. And I use Pulse Audio Jack Sink to route non-jack audio to Jack. So far no problem. Actually just a great setup, I think. It's been working for years. But suddenly, maybe a week ago, my Jack sink stopped being the default option for web browsers. Well, what happens is that w...

Re: Qtractor - plugins that combine audio and midi
the issue issue is one kinda pretty old and the only workaround/solution that i remember for this is about having another JACK client connected between the output bus ports and the insert input ports (ie. returns); an all-pass/thru/meter/etc. JACK client in between will do. THIS! Then it all works ...

Re: Qtractor - plugins that combine audio and midi
Thank you so much! This recipe is gold. I really appreciate it! :D So the sad thing now is that I simply can't get any output from this method. But then I guess my problem lies elsewhere than the method itself, because this is really pretty straightforward. As a matter of fact audio inserts give me ...

Re: Qtractor - plugins that combine audio and midi
Hey again. It was silly of me to drag vocoders into this, it just made it all confusing. (The reason is that I've lately been fiddling with TAL vocoder, which has a built-in carrier you can choose to use.) So forget about vocoders. 'Cause vocoding and sidechaining I can do internally in Qtractor. No...

Re: Qtractor - plugins that combine audio and midi
Thanks for you answer! I wasn't aware of midi tracks' hybrid nature, so it's a good thing you pointed it out. Still, after trying for a long time, I'm just not able to make any use of it. When dealing with a vocoder or Zita-AT1, I have so far used an external plugin host (well, Carla), routing the v...

Qtractor - plugins that combine audio and midi
Some plugins have an audio input and a midi input, for instance Zita-AT1.
You can play the autotuned audio with a midi keyboard.
But is there a way of using this in Qtractor?
When set on an audio track, I don't know how to connect midi to it. When set on a midi track, there is no audio to play.

Re: Realtime kernels in PPAs
So this week my new setup was put to the test: A live performance with a load just as heavy as I dare to do live. Vocals and music mixed together, several plugins (delays, reverbs, compressors, eq, filters, Mixxx playing sound together with the live stuff). Frames/period set to 64, no audible latenc...

Re: Realtime kernels in PPAs
http://bandshed.net/forum/index.php?topic=3719.0 Thank you so much! This looks great, seems like just what I was looking for. I'll give it a try! when an update in Debian stable made my computer rather. . . unstable. Or unusable. Ups... do you know what happend? To be honest, I don't quite know. Th...

[SOLVED] Realtime kernels in PPAs
Hey. Some years of running Debian (testing and stable) ended last Friday, when an update in Debian stable made my computer rather. . . unstable. Or unusable. After struggling a bit with the new installs of Debian, I got frustrated, and as I really needed the computer to work, I installed what just w...
