I wanted to install cadence/catia/claudia. I'm using Ubuntu 22.04, and APT can't find any of the three applications.

The KXStudio Repositories should get you sorted out.

Re: CALF plugins?

As an opposite, I'm working on the alternative implementations of plugins available in Calf tools. The recent one is the Flanger tool which allows to do much more than Calf's one allows. I don't aim to copy-paste the things, I always aim to improve the things that already exist. Thanks, Vladimir. Y...

Re: CALF plugins?

The reason I asked is because sometimes I get an itch to develop a new plugin. I don't think I'm up to the task of updating all the calf plugins such that they don't use gtk2, but I was thinking that I could drop one of the algorithms into a new plugin that would hopefully not have some of the probl...

Hopefully I will get myself a proper guitar at some point.

Another option is to collaborate with a guitarist... Like our very own @Rainmak3r.

Re: CALF plugins?

Are there any effects in the CALF collection that don't have a suitable replacement among Airwindows, LSP Plugins, x42 plugins, etc?

Painful?

Well, @Phitar did just make an analogy about a cross-species heart transplant. A proper same-species heart is definitely in order, but the new transplant isn't exactly painless.

What do respectable people think? I don't know, if you want respectable people you might have to find a different forum. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and didn't really feel like anything was missing. I guess if you want to do something more with it, you could introduce more variation in the...

Re: Best distro for audio production on older PCs

When I read the title, my immediate thought was AVLinux, and then I found out that you have already tried it with good results. I don't think you'll get a better audio production experience "out of the box" with any other distro. Additionally, GMaq maintains AVLinux and he's regularly on t...

Re: dedicated Hobby Musician & Linux User

Any audio interface I've ever used has a way to do direct monitoring, but I always set up my DAW for low latency and monitor its output because I want to hear the processed audio. If you're using a sample rate of 96kHz, then even a fairly conservative buffer setting of 256 samples x 3 frames per per...

Re: dedicated Hobby Musician & Linux User

I don't know of anything that will do (b), but Ardour will easily do the rest. Ardour does have some LUA scripting ability which might accommodate (b), but I think the hard part will be picking up recording again without missing the beginning of the new signal.

Re: Sonatina Choir VSt

You will likely have better luck using the SFZ version of Sonatina. Download the latest release, get sfizz or some other plugin that can play SFZ sampled instruments, and then you can try out the choir SFZ files.

Re: Testing is Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 ok?

Now all that routing stuff, do I need it if I simply want to record audio, and output from computer? If I don't need any inside interface monitoring? Try using it without doing the routing, it might work just fine. I had to customize mine because I wanted only some of the inputs audible through the...

Re: Testing is Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 ok?

I'm using a second-gen Scarlett 18i20 without much trouble. As of the last few years geoffrey 's drivers have been included in the Linux kernel, and his alsa-scarlett-gui gives me access to the internal mixer features. My interface has a few hardware defects - the 7th input channel is completely dea...

Re: Songs By DLP

I think my favorite is Tell Me Again, it made me think of Johnny Cash. I feel like there's more of a story behind The Spring of 23. At first I thought it was talking about the current year, but then it made me wonder if you have some story from your ancestors that lived in previous century. Fair Eno...
