Re: A Challenge

Sounds good. The easiest way I've found to fit MIDI to a performance after the fact is with the tempo mapping feature of Ardour. There's a great video tutorial here . You can also do the same thing in Tracktion (and possibly other DAWs) I've never really liked playing to a click track, so I make mos...

Re: Guitarists, share your virtual chain

I like the "Dirty Marshall" sound. What effects did you use in Guitarix for that? I didn't use any effects except a bit of convolution reverb. I use the JTM45 amp impulse and tonestack and a Bassman cabinet. Here's a YouTube playlist with a variety of different tones all created with Guit...

Re: Guitarists, share your virtual chain

I get tones I'm very happy with using Guitarix or its plugins in a DAW.

Here are some examples so that you can judge for yourself:

Fuzz Tone
Dirty Marshall
Early EVH
Leslie

Re: Embarassing things you did in your first recordings

2. Before I knew about audio interfaces, I would record by plugging the output of a powered mixer into my desktop's line-in jack. I've recently gone back to that setup as the mic preamps are better on my Behringer mixer than my Alesis io2. To my ears the overall audio quality is no worse and the la...

Glad my old ears aren't completely finished. It wasn't a criticism, and I'm sure I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't known it was all coming from the same instrument. It sounded great.

Sounds and looks great. Some excellent riffage, too (especially at 2:57). Is there a slight lag in the bass notes coming from that fancy pickup?

Remove unused midi through ports

I think this has been asked before, but I searched to no avail. Is there any way to hide/remove the midi through ports from patchage/carla/other jack patchbays? I never use them, don't think I need them, and they just get in the way.

Re: JACK xruns because of Wifi - Any workarounds?

I've had this problem on many different setups and have found that it's sufficient to stop networkmanager from periodically scanning for networks by running

Code: Select all

sudo killall -STOP NetworkManager
(after the initial connection has been made)
