Is it just me? Errors in KX iso
Just the deets: Trying to install KX 12.04.1 Startup Disk Creator in ubuntu, fails on writing image (32 & 64 bit versions) Unetbootin: writes the image, but checking disk from live session gives errors in 2 files, 32 & 64. Burn to disc with Brasero, finds errors in 2 files in live session, o...

Re: KX mini manual
Hello Dan, Good to see you back, I was afraid you'd lost interest in writing docs. I can knock out a 1 or 2 page JACK/Cadence manual that will explain everything that the total JACK newb needs to know - a no-BS KX JACK FAQ as part ofthis manual - thats the key bit actually. That's the coolest thing ...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
OK, so I took Falk's advice and went out to have fun. Now I'm stuck in my friend's apartment with a bad hangover, waiting for him to wake up and let me out of the building. JACK is very stable for the vast majority of its users.... But I know you've had trouble. Let's not start blaming JACKyet, as I...

Re: Fedora 18 NI Guitar Rig
Reaper can do that because it is a VST host, but ardour is not. Ah, got it. Someone warned me that WINE would cause problems but I'm really not keen on learning another DAW. Unless there are serious drawbacks, perhaps I should stick to Reaper . . . at one point I had it going in KX and all the VSTs...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
hebjuzeb, you might do well to distinguish between "I'm having lots of trouble with my PC and I think it might be JACK's fault but I really don't know" and "JACK is this, JACK is that, JACK is the other.". I think that the blurring of the lines between these two things, is what ...

Re: Fedora 18 NI Guitar Rig
IIRC, if you run Guitar RIg as a VST plugin in a host which is a Linux program (like festige) then you don't need wineasio. Oh crap, maybe it really is worth converting to Ardour? I had no idea Festige could do this, I just used to create a VST folder and have Reaper run plugins from there. Pablo, ...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
Must say I'm perplexed at how controversial this thread has become, to the point where I've had entire posts removed and been accused of trolling. To be clear I have nothing but respect and thanks for Falk, not just for doing the coding and making Linux a better place for musicians, but for taking t...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
Hey Falk, Thanks for the reply, that tip did resolve the main Reaper issue. Regarding JACK, almost everyone here in this forums uses it. True, but there are issues . . . imagine if I posted in the Reaper forums, "Why are Poulin plugins such peices of crap? They never work, and they sound bad!&q...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
Jack has a bug in it which makes it not work which in essence makes ubuntu studio useless because linux audio is based on jack. It sucks I know but not a problem thanks to kxstudio. OK, this is why I started the thread. But if JACK has a bug, why doesn't it affect regular Ubuntu? How do you manage ...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
This is borderline trolling. Please give it a rest. I'm not trolling, borderline or otherwise. In the forum world, that's a pretty strong accusation: you're basically saying I'm just here to cause problems. IMO, JACK is over-designed and under-documented, simple as that, and my advice to anyone int...

Re: Why is JACK such a POS?
Hey Todd, Thanks for the reply. Near as I can recall, most likely had JACK Bridge going. so YouTube or something may be the culprit. I should make a handle that has my setup listed: my machine's average, i3 dual-core 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, using an Alesis i04 via USB 2. In Windows I use a cheap Steinberg ...

Re: KX mini manual
Well, I guess we've established that there's one thing VLC can't play nice with: JACK.
If you have a program that doesn't work predictably and well with any other program, perhaps your program is the problem.

Re: KX mini manual
All good. I see an interesting angle for this project, I'd call it "convince me." Is Linux a viable alternative for music production? Perhaps I'm dating myself, but the old "X-files" tagline, "I want to believe," springs to mind. Perhaps we could call it the "KX Fi...

Re: KX mini manual
Hey Wolftune, Regarding Ardour, it was their old website that rubbed me (and a lot of people) the wrong way. Don't recall the wording but if you didn't want to pay they had you pick a reason from a set list, the last of which was pretty snarky. Mind you I feel the same way about Ubuntu's new downloa...
