Re: qmidiarp-->Yoshimi

Ha. Yes, I did :p

It runs, makes all the right motions on screen - just nothing comes out.

Re: qmidiarp-->Yoshimi

Hi.

I'm using a2j as I want to be able to sync it later with Ardour etc...

The keyboard directly to Yoshimi produces sound, as does the virtual keyboard.

The connections in qjackctl are where I set the connections - they are connected as described.

qmidiarp-->Yoshimi

Hi all, Ive been messing around with qmidiarp and on occassion, I've actually managed to get some sounds coming out :p Only...not today. I have my controller/arp/yosh setup as so: MIDI TAB (Connections) keyboard-->a2j(through)-->qmidiarp(in) qmidiarp(out)-->yoshimi(in) AUDIO TAB Yoshimi (left/right)...

How to install LinuxSampler.

Hi all, Every year or so, when I upgrade or do a fresh install of UbuntuStudio, I have the problem of how to get LinuxSampler installed. I simply don't have the memory capacity to remember how to do it. I managed to get it installed from source, but it would only work with alsa, there was no Jack op...

Ardour won't start unless I set GTK2_RC_FILES

Hi all,

I've had this annoying bug(?) where ardour won't start unless I export GTK2_RC_FILES=/dev/null before opening it in a terminal.

I can't remember how to set this permanently, or how to fix it so it doesn't need it.

Can anyone offer some advice please?

Thank you in advance.

Re: "jack" button missing in Ardour.

Straight away! Thank you!

Just clicked it back to JACK and now it's there again. I spent hours going through everything trying to find what had changed.

Thank you so much!

"jack" button missing in Ardour.

Hi all, I fired up Ardour a couple of hours ago to listen to some things I'd recorded and do some editing, but the JACK button that would ordinarily toggle between "INT" and "JACK" now only has "Int" and "Mtc", and no matter what I do, I cannot get it to sync ...

Change Hydrogen DrumKit halfway through a song?

Hi all, I have a song, and at the start I'm using the 808 drumkit, but when the chorus kicks in, I want to use an analaogue kit. Is it possible to change the kit at some point in the same song? Currently, I'm considering piping the output into Ardour, then changing the kit and loading the latter hal...

Re: Drums in Ardour

Just wanted to say...thank you. That works brilliantly! (well almost, I can't hear the drums when the record button is pressed in Ardour, but I'm sure I'll work it out). The only difference to creating a midi channel with the aforementioned drums is that there's obviously no "fan out" opti...

Re: Drums in Ardour

Hydrogen can do one output per instrument. Go to Tools > Preferences and click on the Audio System tab. Tick the box create per instrument outputs . Now you can add tracks in Ardour for each drum, and join them up using the JACK patchbay, accessible through Catia if you use Cadence, or Patchage or ...

Re: Drums in Ardour

Ok then.

What a shame.

I suppose I'm really after the ease of the pattern/song building in Hydrogen with the functionality (fan out) of the drum plugin inside Ardour.

Re: Drums in Ardour

Thanks for the ideas.

So, if I were to use Drum Gizmo, wouldn't I end up in the same situation as I was with the LVI plugins (ie. pattern editing inside Ardour)?

Re: Drums in Ardour

Wow! What a great response. I think that I'll download the kits for Hydrogen and stick with that, as I know it reasonably well already. The only thing I'm not sure of, is say I want to add some reverb to the high-hat, and only the high-hat, I can't find a way to do that. I can pipe the whole drum ki...

Drums in Ardour

Hi all, I've just discovered the AVL drum plugins for Ardour. Am really impressed. Great sounding drums. So I set about having a play and getting used to them, after watching the intro videos on youtube (usually I'd use Hydrogen and link it through JACK), and got some really good beats going, but fo...
