Re: No midi port in Helm?
I don't have an answer to your question because I don't really use standalone synths these days but I might be able to offer a workaround. Iif you just run helm in jalv its basically like having it as a standalone. just run "jalv.gtk http://tytel.org/helm" in a terminal

Re: How should a bug tracker be managed?
Should a non-developer volunteer to contribute bug management I think probably the 3rd would be what to strive for, but if a project is lacking resources (what project isn't?) then I'm not sure what the next best would be. A followup question to that notion, is: How do you make bug triage an appeal...

Re: How should a bug tracker be managed?
Outside of the ticketing part, what I think is the worst is to work on old stuff without double checking with the user who reported it (that would be for the third option), since this could be purely wasted time. Here, a simple note like "Hi I'm going to work on your issue, can you confirm if ...

Re: How should a bug tracker be managed?
Trying to summarise various suggestions about how to avoid "necro-bugs" included: * creating a single issue containing a list of all old unaddressed issues, closing the latter * assuming every issue older than X years is a won't-fix and closing it (assuming users will re-open a bug if need...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?
Several of the developers here are hoping this will turn into some good discussion with good suggestions about bug tracker management. I think it would be good to get out of this context, and start a new thread: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=19125&p=98451#p98451 If you just...

How should a bug tracker be managed?
After much emotional discussion about a particular project, this thread is started to try to discuss pros and cons of particular bug-tracking strategies. Listed criticisms of some projects trackers mostly centered around not closing old bugs (10+ years old), common explanation being the devs aren't ...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?
I honestly can't believe this! We're discussing the arguably most successful floss audio program on earth. I'd venture they have the largest user base of any floss audio program we use here, and we're condemning the devs because of their use of the bug tracker? Criticizing it, the suggestions ...

Re: Any Ab.Live alternative?
Ardour 6.0 is slated to add many features that will allow a more live-like workflow, but the release date is still TBD. Keep an eye out for it. I'm sure there'll be some noise around here when it finally is released.

Re: MOD Devices sponsors Linuxmusicians.com
I've been holding out commenting. After some thought, I really think we need to clarify the terms we've agreed on with mod. I personally don't mind giving credit to some sponsors, though I would probably prefer they get credit somewhere without an image on every page. Ardour has had several sponsors...

IIUC none of the open source vst3 hosts on linux support vst3 at this time. I'm not 100% sure about that though.

Re: A program like iMaschine or the Beatbuddy pedal for linux?
(acoording to MIDI specifications — no). I'm not sure which part of the midi spec you mean, but there's nothing preventing a sequencer from sending midi notes in different tempos. I agree though that using polyrhythm in sequencer64 is probably the closest thing since this is not a common thing. Or ...

Re: A program like iMaschine or the Beatbuddy pedal for linux?
I cannot find a way to tell Hydrogen: "play part 2 after you finish part 1" so if I change patterns in Hydrogen it changes immediately, same for seq24. Is there a way to tell these programs ok move on to part 2 but only when you finish playing part 1 not as soon as I press the button. fro...

Nothing wrong with GTK, lots wrong with using GTK for a plugin.Lyberta wrote:What's wrong with GTK? Haven't coded for it so I have no idea.
