Re: Beatrix

I have it working now with my usb keyboard, but how do I change instruments? By sending the 'program change' events documented in the console when starting Beatrix. To switch easily using vkeybd, check http://arnout.engelen.eu/index.php/Vkeybd_preset_file_for_Beatrix I wonder what would be a good t...

Re: onboard audio + mixer trouble

It doesn't happen when playing an mp3 (it should be constant) I could imagine some component doesn't get enabled until there's actual sound to play - but that's just guessing. It doesn't happen when you connect the monitors directly (this makes no sense) Thought so, too! :). If your mixer is USB-po...

Re: onboard audio + mixer trouble

I wonder if an 'audio line isolator transformer' would help here - sounds similar, but docs I've been reading suggest ground loops cause low-pitched noise (50hz) rather than high-pitched.

Re: Beatrix

I updated http://arnout.engelen.eu/index.php/Beatrix to document how to make it play nice with ALSA MIDI: basically you just load snd_virmidi and point Beatrix to the right midi device.

Re: Beatrix

Hmm, one 'JP Mercury' mentions he patched Beatrix to work with Jack, might be nice to try and get hold of that patch.

Re: Beatrix

It's been a real long time since I used this - I guess you already saw http://arnout.engelen.eu/index.php/Beatrix - not sure if I ever got it to work with reasonable latencies.

Re: USB to Midi?

but what about drivers? Does Linux support it out of the box? I bought an Roland Edirol UM-1EX which seems to work without any problems because I by then couldn't get my Midisport 4x4 to work. Now I have read that it's something about a firmwareloader that I need to install, but I have not yet trie...

Re: Rosegarden's CPU level too High on Ubuntu Studio 9.04

This issue has been reported to launchpad and Sergey Rudchenko planned on working it in june last year, but I don't see much activity since.

Debian also carries 0.2.5.

64studio is also planning to include a newer release in their upcoming 3.0 release, but it seems that hasn't happened yet.

Which versions of QSynth are you running? https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=d ... tid=604538 suggests a CPU usage-related bug has been fixed between 0.3.2 and 0.3.3.

I hear dyne::bolic is specifically targeting web radio streaming - haven't used it myself though.

Very nice indeed. If it seems daunting, don't worry: those docs describe jack 'internals' - which is useful background to know, but to write jack-aware applications you don't necessarily have to delve so deeply.

Re: jack from sources together with apps from repos

I'm trying to install the latest jack from svn sources and it complains about that there is another jack installation (from repositories). However if I try to remove the apt-get installed jack (libjack0), the system wants to remove a lot of other useful apps (zynaddsubfx, mplayer, audacity, ...) be...
