Re: Any problems with Qtractor recently?

may I ask what changed in your system recently?

is it pipewire-jack or genuine jack? anything else?

ps. don't forget (ever) to tell which qtractor version and origin.

Re: Problem with sampler audio in Qtractor

But yes, ...sfz player integrated into qtractor would be a nice idea...I would use it  not going to happen, sorry but what's wrong with sfizz, liquidsfz or even linuxsampler? and others ... please know that all and every sfz implementations may differ in the details; no one is best, they all a...

So, the lowest latency with qtractor is 2 x 64 ? ...mmm, compared to 1 x 16, the latency is now "quite high"...have to deal with it, ok

no, please read my previous post (edited)

Re: [ANN] Qtractor 0.9.34 - A Spring'23 Release batch #3

Mhhh, so lowest possible latency is 2 x 64 frames ? no, incorrect: the lowest possible latency is achieved when you set the jack settings to even lower than that: for example: you may have 16 frames/period and 2 or 3 periods, thus 2x16 or 3x16 resp.) and have qtractor to reduce the uniform block si...

Re: [ANN] Qtractor 0.9.34 - A Spring'23 Release batch #3

Yeah 64 bit blocksize seems usual I guess. I will try with lowest jack latencies. also, the point here is, you don't really need to run for the "lowest jack latencies" whatsoever; the main benefit here now is about getting the very same results in realtime, automation and export resolutio...

frames aka samples, not bits nor bytes, mind you

Re: [ANN] Qtractor 0.9.34 - A Spring'23 Release batch #3

yes, independent of the jack buffer-size (if higher than 64 frames/period). Doesnt that lead to more load caused by the plugins, e.g. with 4 64-byte-FFTs instead of 1 256-byte-FFT when I have a jack bufsize of 256? may induce a slight increase in load (less than +1%); but a plugin that sizes its ff...

Re: [ANN] Qtractor 0.9.34 - A Spring'23 Release batch #3

Fixed a zero-day blunder that was keeping the real-time process cycle from having the uniform block-size of 64 frames per period; (thus, probably ineffective since v0.9.30). Hi Rui, what does this mean? Do all plugins get chunks of 64 bytes? yes, independent of the jack buffer-size (if higher than ...

[ANN] Qtractor 0.9.34 - A Spring'23 Release batch #3

One third time, Qtractor 0.9.34 ( spring'23 ) is released! Change-log: Fixed the snap-to-beat of new notes entry on the MIDI clip editor (aka. piano-roll) due on time signature changes. Start JACK transport rolling only when metronome Count-in ends. Fixed an allegedly old and incorrect 0dBfs notch p...

when using qjackctl the ffado performance here is amanzing with -n1 -p16: no xruns, cpu usage at 10% and jack server is at 20%.
When selecting other higher latencies and buffersizes, it gets allways worser instead of better - thats crazy or?

that's question to the ffado devs. I'm sure

Re: What preference do you have for DAWs?

I surely believe that, but it really appears to me that small buffersizes are making the scanning longer. Maybe I am wrong, I will test that again... you might not be completely wrong about that: small buffer-sizes may cause higher cpu load (mainly due to more frequent context-switching) so that it...

Re: What preference do you have for DAWs?

Yeah - a new boost for the scanning process - thats great. The installed plugins count here lies between 2000-4000 depending on the machine... With normal buffersizes and latencies like n2 p128, scanning is fast in maybe some minutes,..when running at -n1 -p16 which I do now, the scanning takes lon...
