Re: Extremophile (You're a star)
I really like the dark, sinister sounds. The repeating, distorted six note sequence (first occurrence at ~0:17) adds even more suspense. The pitch-shifted vocals add to the otherwordly feel as well. Thanks. Funny that you consider it to be sinister. For me it doesn't sound sinister at all, but grea...

Re: First release of KPP Plugins for guitar processing!
Looks indeed interesting. I downloaded the binary and copied the lv2 folder into my /home/user/.lv2 When trying to load them in Ardour it fails and the log file shows me: I'm using debian stretch. Thank you for testing! Can you start Ardour from terminal and post errors from it here, please? It is ...

But still it's possible to work with midi.. it can just get annoying sometimes. The problems will be solved this year in Ardour 7 then...

There are some really nice tracks! Especially the last one (except of the much too loud noise / drone sound ) and the first one.

Re: System freeze - realtime kernel
Yeah I think it can be installed but not used. Might want to check what is actually being used though. Seems to be the i915 driver: *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: ...

Re: System freeze - realtime kernel
I just ask because it is very similar to an issue you can run in to using nouveau driver in conjunction with realtime operations - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/nouveau#Random_lockups_with_kernel_error_messages Sounds like it could be a kernel problem though, boot in the low latency or regul...

Re: Best DAW for the casual beginner?
I would start with Ardour or Qtractor in your case, especially with Ardour 6 in mind, where most of the midi problems will be eliminated. Ardour is perfect to learn all the things about routing, sidechain compression, busses, etc. And you will not get lost in menus, which can happen with Reaper. If...

Re: Best DAW for the casual beginner?
I use Reaper and Renoise myself (+Ardour). Ardour works for smaller projects, but if the number of VSTs is increasing it´s better to use Reaper, cause it´s much more CPU efficient. Re: LMMS and Carla
It should be possible to use Linux VSTs without Carla in LMMS. When using windows VST with LMMS you need to have WINE installed:

Re: Getting started with VCV Rack [updated 2/28]
I'm trying figuring out how to change it
It's a bit complicated in Debian and explained here:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... f-8-locale
I didn't test it yet.

Re: Getting started with VCV Rack [updated 2/28]
Thanks for that summary. I definitely will look into that. On my system there's something wrong with the graphic. Some modules look strange, maybe I'm missing the openGL thing?
