Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 2.5.4 - The “Alambradas” Release
First, I'd make sure that you're trying to run the alsa backend. Try to run with 'zynaddsubfx -I ALSA -O ALSA' . If you still get this error, then there's likely another application using the default ALSA device. You can check for this with 'lsof /dev/dsp* /dev/snd/*'. Using the alsa backend still ...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 2.5.4 - The “Alambradas” Release
How do I get the alsa backend to work?
I keep getting:
I'm on Gentoo with alsa-1.1.1.
I keep getting:
Code: Select all
Default IO did not initialize
Defaulting to NULL backend

Re: Ideal DE for Music Tracking & Mixing
I know this is a little old but have you tried Enlightenment 0.20.9. Memory footprint is small and speed is good. It has really good window management and developers have picked up the pace on bugfixes and releases. It does have a tiling option which I never tried if that's your preference.

Thanks fundamental!!! It worked!! Sorry I didn't catch the zynaddsubfx -P option. I'm back and forth on this computer and I just missed it.

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 2.5.4 - The “Alambradas” Release
This is the command I'm using:
but it's giving me this:
Code: Select all
$ oscsend localhost --preferred-port 1234 /load_xlz s ~/Music/Zynaddsubfx/MPK-live.xlz
Code: Select all
$ Type '/' is not supported or invalid.
Failed to create OSC message.

fundamental wrote:Given the setup that you've described, yes you want to manually set some port using --preferred-port and use that with the oscsend command.
Ahh ok gotcha.

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 2.5.4 - The “Alambradas” Release
Is there a way to load midi learn files through cli with no gui? I see the .xmz and .xiz file load options but it doesn't show any midi learn files. At the moment there isn't a normal command line argument available. I've added a feature request to make sure that isn't the case in the future: https...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 2.5.4 - The “Alambradas” Release
Tried using jack_connect: $ jack_connect 'alsa_midi:MPK mini MPK mini MIDI 1 out' zynaddsubfx:midi_input and it's giving me: $ arguments must include 1 input port and 1 output port Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Edit: I changed the mpk port to 'MPK...1 in' instead of out and it connected. A lit...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 2.5.4 - The “Alambradas” Release
Trying to connect using the aconnect command but it won't connect it. Am I using jack or alsa as input engine?

Ok sounds good. I have another question how would I start it with no gui and auto connect my MPK mini MIDI keyboard to zyn? I'm using JACK1.

Re: ZynAddSubFX 2.5.0
Fundamental, any idea of 2.5.2. release date? I'm thinking in the next two weeks or so. This would mean bumping a number of smaller bugs and (somewhat larger) feature requests to 2.5.3, but a release is overdue. Does midi serialization mean that those bindings are implementeded? Midi-learn save as ...
