Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs

This is very detailed and informative. I'll need to read it a few dozen times. Thank you so much.

Re: A video promoting the use of open-source software for music production

Please stop using the term "Open Source". The legit term is "Free Software". By using the watered down lingo created for the sole purpose of tricking decision makers into using Free Software, the public is taught to value only pragmatic side-effects which are sometimes achieved a...

Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs

Thanks for all the feedback thus far. After making some changes over here, I can reproduce a set of results that seem to be an improvement over what I previously mentioned. With Jack Periods set to 2 time bin/xruncounter Samplerate 48000 Buffersize is 512 jack running with realtime priority Xrun 1 a...

Re: mtf8 - the smile

Thank you very much for the listens. Working hard over here to dig up my old Cakewalk created MIDI files from many many years ago. I've been shuffling around between all the DAWs and am now up and running with Qtractor. In any case, that song was new and just "happened". My producer and I ...

Re: MIDI sequencer with piano roll and audio export function

As someone who primarily works with MIDI, I'd strongly recommend looking at Qtractor. I've explored all of the popular free software sequencers and am convinced they all suck (some less) for various reasons.

Yep, that did the trick. Nice catch. While I'm here, I'm curious to know what may be planned for supporting the importing of additional kits?

Re: Sitala drum plugin

Hello, I'm going to try and get this thread back on track since I'm VERY interested in using Sitala from within Ardour 5.12. That's not happening at the moment due to the following: /opt/ardour/lib$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/ardour/lib/ /opt/ardour/lib/ardour-vst-scanner -f /usr/lib/lxvst/libsitala.so [E...

Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs

Besides rt-tests https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/rt-tests/ for audio there is also test for MIDI: alsa-midi-latency-test https://github.com/koppi/alsa-midi-latency-test and jack_midi_latency https://github.com/x42/jack_midi_latency . I found these a few days ago but failed to get any value fro...
