Re: Can I make this Alesis VI25 work and next steps
So, across the board, i've been having issues with jack. It's not you. It's jack (or perhaps one of the numerous trojans pretending to be jack). Go into every music program's audio settings, and set it to use ALSA (ie, completely bypass jack). If the program doesn't have a setting to not use jack, ...

I've seen the NINA posted around some places but I wasn't aware of the Pi connection!

Re: aarch64/arm compatible plugins
There's a short list on the Zynthian raspberry pi synth project which should give you a place to start from. Zynth only supports lv2 though as it's the only one you can pretty much expect to be multi-arch & cross-platform.

Re: alsa, pulseaudio AND jack?
I make sure I have pulseaudio-jack packages installed and tick the dbus box in the qjackctl settings. Does all the lifting for me.

Thanks for the update. I'm stuck in the limbo of waiting for the Pinebook Pro to become available again.

The third bit 61/62/63 is for SET, QUERY and REPLY.
If you just want it to list the internal config you need 62
If you want to tell it to change the internal config you need 61.
If it's sending a response for any other thing you will see 63.

Re: Raspberry Pi as midi host for MC101 (Roland)
Have you updated the MC101 to firmware v1.60 or above? It's not class compliant on earlier firmware versions which may explain the MIDI issues under linux.

You also haven't mentioned what software you've been using to try and link the midi signals of the two together. QJackCtl? Pachage?

Re: Raspberry Pi as midi host for MC101 (Roland)
If you're just intending to use the pi as a dedicated router it might be worth looking at ZynthianOS as it's set up to run on the pi and is capable of routing things around. You don't need the full Zynthian kit, a pi, a screen and a mouse will be enough https://wiki.zynthian.org/index.php/Zynthian_S...
