Re: Carla and OSC
Hi @m2v2, I'm new to OSC, but this worked for me with only ZynAddSubFx loaded as only plugin: oscsend osc.udp://localhost:19735 /Carla/0/set_volume f 0.8 [Update: oh, the port number 19735 might vary, and you may need to get it from help OSC page] The volume would vary from 0.0 to 1.27(loudest). The...

Re: How to disable JACK?
Hi @Luc, My understanding is when you stop jackd, it's gone, you are left with alsa. jackd runs as a daemon, background process, you can see if by ps -e | grep jackd. When you stop it, it will not show up as a process running. When you start it, it shows up in the list. jackd runs on top of alsa, al...

Re: M-Audio MidiSport 2x2 Problem
Hi @sticks_us, I'd say by your last post it is working. aseqdump is showing keys, note-on midi messages. You are showing two ALSA midi devices. So make note which one works and which one doesn't work. My m-audio Axiom gives me this as well(come out as 24:0 and 24:1., the first(24:0) produces midi no...

Re: Audio interface with multiple midi
Thanks @foldera for correcting me on that(see I really don't know what I'm talking about half the time, I should probably be banned form the internet). Lately, I search mididings and this has a link to a nice MIDI spec over to http://www.somascape.org/midi/tech/spec.html 9n : Note On 3 bytes 1001nnn...

Re: Audio interface with multiple midi
Hi @Bio, Keep in mind I don't know what I'm talking about half the time ;) I googled the MIDI speed, it's actually around 30K bits/second(31250 baud to be exact). So in other words, at 10 bits per byte, it's 3K bytes per second. A note on command in MIDI is one byte[Correction: 3 bytes, thanks @fold...

Re: Audio interface with multiple midi
I would consider MIDI separate from any audio interface. Mostly MIDI is an outdated technology, a serial port essentially running a little faster than 9600 baud(that's like 10K bits per second). It is essentially a serial port, with added benefit of opto-isolation and a current driven driver/receive...

Re: USB audio interface for guitar recording/effects
Hi @tavasti, The RP255 you have looks to be same as my RP350 less a few features like extra main foot button and XLR output jacks on back, maybe a few edit knobs. I would expect it to run same as mine. We will have to compare notes on this(like lsusb info), and what kernel/modules are used with it, ...

Re: USB audio interface for guitar recording/effects
Hi @tavasti, yes, 16bit is fine, it's CD quality eh. What Digitech unit do you have? @Muges, consider a used Digitech RP350, RP500 or RP1000. I picked my RP350 up locally used for about $40, which was a deal. I did just test it on a recently upgraded laptop running Debian Testing. It worked straight...

Re: USB audio interface for guitar recording/effects
I have a Digitech RP350 effects unit I bought used. It really is a nice unit and can do a lot of nice things. It can act as a usb sound card, although limited to usb1.1 sorta stuff(16bit probably). I tried usb recording from it once, so never used it much, but I recall it working. And I believe you ...

Re: Any DAWs offer decent editing of wave recording?
Thanks Markus for the suggestions, I was able to cut out a section without moving it fairly easily, just a matter of learning enough about Ardour.

Re: All USB inputs on a laptop are not equal (X-Runs)
I believe you are correct, some USB connections are better than others. I think some of it maybe is a daisy chain thing, where USB has 4 or 5 ports and if you want more it gets daisy chained(via a hub). USB ports on the back connections are normally the most direct, sometimes they put a few in front...

Re: Any DAWs offer decent editing of wave recording?
Thanks for all the suggestions! And thanks to FalkTX kx studio pkgs I got Ardour4 up and running on Debian Testing with very little effort. I was able to use a Draw Mode, it allowed to non-destructively set gain and effectively remove bits of my wave recording. Had to draw 4 connection points, where...

Re: Linuxsampler on Debian,
Thanks for the tips. I do believe I need to try out KX repos. I was under the wrong impression that it was stale - no new release. But, I have read FalkTX shifting over to a more of a Deb pkg repo that attempts to be compatible with the varying needs(deb testing?, latest Ubuntu?). I will give Carla ...

Re: Any DAWs offer decent editing of wave recording?
Thanks for the pointer. I didn't try MusE, assuming it was strictly MIDI sequencer, I will give it a spin.
