What are your specific goals? I've tried out Tango Studio, but I thought there were more apps than I needed. I think I'm going to get my vanilla Ubuntu configured better for my needs (which are one channel at a time recording). If we know what you want to do, we can better nudge you.

Selecting my device in the setup menu fixed it! Ardour works great! THANK YOU! It does exactly what I want! I'm more comfortable with Audacity, but I'll learn Ardour. Just for curiosity's sake, do you know how to connect Audacity to JACK? It doesn't show up in JACK's connection menus.

I have an Edirol UA-4FX that works in linux (Ubuntu), somewhat. I only say somewhat because I'm having trouble recording multiple tracks in Audacity. I figure this is a software/config problem because I can record my first track beautifully. All further tracks have something like a latency issue.......

Can you help me use JACK? I tried to get it running, but all the documentation I could find is WAY over my head.
