Re: Most of the iLok plugins not workin anymore

This problem did not resolve, and been tested with few wine versions. Somehow looks like this won't be resolving, so conclusion is 'avoid iLok'.

Re: Facebook and instagram, good for publicity?

If you audience are millennials then: yes. Anything before or after that: no. Teenagers think that Facebook is for their grandparents to keep in touch with them. The "2nd baby boom", born in 1970 and up, are done with it: nobody watches their photo's of food taken in a restaurant anymore....

Re: Plugins fail to instantiate in Ardour using KXStudio repositories

Personally, I think there is something seriously wrong with any plugin system whereby a faulty plugin can crash the host. It would seem the integration is far too close. In Ardour that is by design, and no sandboxin is planned/wanted by devs, and reason is performance (less context switches). In ca...

Re: Plugins fail to instantiate in Ardour using KXStudio repositories

[semi off topic] Woooot? Something as "common" as Qt doesn't go well with Ardour? You sure? Even Qjackctl uses Qt. Will that cause problems w/ Ardour too? Any plugin that is dynamically linked is somewhat likely to cause problems with Ardour and Mixbus. Those big toolkits like Qt and GTK ...

One problem is that new users, with less than N posts can't sen private messages. That is to avoid spammers sending their junk to everybody.

That comes from your jack config. Configure jack as you desire.

Re: Using Linux for live gig work - how many would trust it?

I've been looking for some Linux alternatives for a while now - MOST particularly something akin to Sampletank a large sample based library of excellent sounds, and so far I have found nothing similar. There are some as I call "sorta kinda" options which I guess in the fullness of time I ...

Re: Tranzistow synth

I'm afraid that for me this is instant information overload :( At least with Yoshimi the complexity is compartmentalised into separate logical windows - and you don't see what you don't need to! Yeah, Tranzistow is suitable for persons who think Yoshimi or ZynAddSubFX are 'basic synths', and are lo...

Re: Using Linux for live gig work - how many would trust it?

The issue is, as there are NO Linux alternatives for Gig Performer, Cantabile et al, I am sorta forced to use WINE to run my windows only Cantabile live gig hosting app. If there were an equivalent for Linux, I'd drop EVERYTHING windows and just use linux plugs - even ditching my Sampletank 4! If i...

If anything's likely to get flakey, it'll be hardware related, especially around cables and sockets.
What billion dollar thing uses windows plugins with wine?

I take windows-plugins as a risk. On updates, there is some risk that they will stop working. So be sure to have full disk image of your system so that I can restore it if it breaks.
