Re: Tips for new laptop

Thanks to all for the reply. So what do you think, Thinkpad T450s, or XPS 13 2015? For the almost same specifics (512 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM, Broadwell i7, backlit keyboard) the XPS is much cheaper, plus it's smaller and with touch screen. What do you think makes so much difference in price? Edit: also th...

Re: Tips for new laptop

Thanks for the answers!

The Thinkpad seems promising.
The Dell XPS looks also very pretty. The problem is that both (latest models) are only dual core (4 threads). Would that be a serious drawback for audio (even if the cores are fast)?
I'm doubting. Maybe it doesn't matter...I have no idea.

Re: Novation Launchpad - posting my mididings script!

As an example of how to use the code, here is an LMMS file. Connect (I use Jack midi) the LMMS "candy" track to the mididings candy track, and the LMMS "beat" track to the mididings beat track. Then connect the mididings track "to PC" to the LMMS " Launchpad Keys&q...

Novation Launchpad - posting my mididings script!

Hello all, A friend of mine lent me his Novation Launchpad, and I've tried to have some fun with it on Linux. I wrote a small mididings script (and small library) to work with it, and I would like to post it here! Feel free to use it, ask anything, improve it, edit it - just please posts your contri...

No sound in Skype

Hello. Since I installed KXStudio I have never had sound on Skype. Even the test sound is completely silent. The ALSA-JACK bridge is active though. In the Options menu, the audio device selected is "virtual", which is the only entry present... Does anyone know what kind of audio system the...

Re: Controlling SOLO button with MIDI in LMMS

Ok figured it out, in case someone needs it. It's very simple, once you assign a control number, values 64-127 turn the button on, values 0-63 off :)

Controlling SOLO button with MIDI in LMMS [SOLVED]

Hi! I have noticed that almost every button on LMMS can be controlled via MIDI. I would like to do this for the SOLO button of different patterns, so that I can switch between them with my MIDI controller. I assume it takes control changes, right? But what signals does the button "want", i...

I'm trying both. I'm getting the sensation that with both (MusE and Qtractor), whatever I do besides adding notes makes the program crash...

Muse crashes on instrument initialization

Hi all!

I'm new to Muse, and I don't seem to be even able to open it - every time I do, it asks me something about MIDI instrument initialization, and then whatever I answer, it crashes...any advice?

Thanks.

Program to sync synths (with MIDI input) with JACK

Hello! I have a problem. I have always used LMMS to write music, as a basic drum machine and as a plugin host with MIDI tracks (the FL-like piano roll is quite comfortable to me). More and more, now, I'm using Hydrogen to produce more advanced drum tracks, and Ardour for recording audio. I cannot sy...

Tips for new laptop

Hi all, and happy new year! I need to buy a new computer, that I would use for audio processing. I need a laptop, because I'm always back and forth between the rehearsal room and my very small home studio. That said, despite laptop, I would like to have maximum performance. A big laptop would not be...

guitarix is installed as local for no reason [SOLVED]

The title pretty much sums it up :)
All packages and repos seem in the right place, except guitarix. And so, I can not update it automatically, I have to download it every time.
What may be the issue?

Thanks!

Re: Default dark theme and Firefox [SOLVED]

Solved the problem. I had to add the line:

Code: Select all

border: solid white !important;
Also, the theme "Firefox Carbon" looks very good with the color combination.

I hope this can be useful to everyone!
