Reason I haven't said anything.....The only reason I ever use suspend is if I need silence, and regardless, as it rarely works reliably (ever, any OS) I prefer to just power off....

I'm not anti-alsamixer. alsamixer is fine. What I'm saying is simple: in the past, I had trouble with kmix not fully aligning with alsamixer. Recently, those issues seem to have gone away. FWIW, I have a machine here that will never stay suspended, it just wakes instantly, one that won't suspend at all, and one that works perfectly. All the ones that fail, are from OEMs, like hp or toshiba.... I just kinda accept that it sometimes may not work I wish you luck!

Any of you tried Super Boot Manager? I installed it from PPA and liked it a lot. Lets you do plymouth theming, too.
