Re: Non-stuff in KXStudio
Not sure why the surprise. Session management is the heart of Linux audio. I don't know if I'd go that far, it's a new addition to the linux audio world. Perhaps that's the reason for my surprise - I'm accustomed to not having and using session management tools, so I don't use them, and my perspect...

I think I better dedicate next week to documenting this stuff. I'm surprised it's so popular!wolftune wrote:session management

Re: KX mini manual
Dan, while I understand how tough the back-and-forth of community documentation can be, it's a necessity for proper docs. Try to hang in there :) On this note, I think documentation which is subject to change (read: All linux doco; read: kxstudio doco) should be on a dynamic page like a wiki so that...

Re: auto-routing
Their is no point having several standalone programs, that one program can do far better . That's not really correct, in fact the Unix Way states quite the opposite, for very good reason. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_philosophy#McIlroy:_A_Quarter_Century_of_Unix For a classic example, you don'...

Re: No option for windows after KXstudio install
All the hassle and "manuals" that I had to read in order to achieve a bootable side by side installation & you provide a somewhat unthoughtful, RTFM response. It was entirely thoughtful. I was thinking about giving good advice to those who might read the thread later. I felt you had a...

$ uname -r

I'm not using 3.8 yet because it has not been automatically updated.

Guilty: I have had this error for ages and didn't report it yet. Figured it was just me.

Re: No option for windows after KXstudio install
Advice to newbies ! . Buy a relatively cheap hard drive and install kxstudio on it's own!. .Then press F2 or whatever takes you into the bios on each start up and you can select the op to cleanly boot into from there . My advice to newbies, is save your cash, and RTFM before you partition and insta...

Re: quirks trying to fix the snd-aloop ALSA/JACK suspend iss
Reason I haven't said anything.....The only reason I ever use suspend is if I need silence, and regardless, as it rarely works reliably (ever, any OS) I prefer to just power off....

I'm not anti-alsamixer. alsamixer is fine. What I'm saying is simple: in the past, I had trouble with kmix not fully aligning with alsamixer. Recently, those issues seem to have gone away. I wonder if your concerns are obsolete. That's all. I wonder if you're judging kmix by past experiences that w...

That's why I thought I better warn you about my machines :) Edit: Or, more to the point, the fact that kmix is open to failures that might screw up a first-time setup. Well, let's be a little more specific. A lot of devices were not correctly recognized by ALSA prior to kernel 3.5 or 3.6. With the ...

Re: suspend to ram don't work.
FWIW, I have a machine here that will never stay suspended, it just wakes instantly, one that won't suspend at all, and one that works perfectly. All the ones that fail, are from OEMs, like hp or toshiba.... I just kinda accept that it sometimes may not work I wish you luck!

Re: No option for windows after KXstudio install
Any of you tried Super Boot Manager? I installed it from PPA and liked it a lot. Lets you do plymouth theming, too.
