Re: Midi+Audio mixdown & pan/vol in Qtractor: a hack & a hal
My solution seems to work, though: I use inserts (without using their returns) to create fake aux-sends to my reverb buses. On http://www.marzen.de/tmp/qtractor-mixer.png the two "Echo 1 Aus" and "Echo 2 Aus" on the right side of the screenshot have inserts that work like aux-se...

Re: Midi+Audio mixdown & pan/vol in Qtractor: a hack & a hal
Some comments on my own experiences while using Qtractor. You will quickly bump into limitations when you start to route audio busses (sends, effect tracks, mix downs, etc.) directly back into other Qtractor audio busses. It's something that looks possible and powerful, but you'll either end up with...

Re: How do I write drum notation?
denemo looks like the best contender so far but Ive enountered a couple of issues which prevent me from using it. Hopefully a forum member will be able to help as I've had no response from denemo-devel yet. Denemo is a front end to Lilypond. For doing specialized notation, it might be easiest to ju...

Thanks for all the hard work on the SFZs, j_e_f_f_g! (And thanks for some of the other very silly and entertaining posts.)

Re: DrumGizmo and Qtractor
I think with qtractor, the only thing that works is to load DrumGizmo into Carla (or another lv2 host) and use it as you would an external instrument.

The Software shall be used for Good, not Evil. Vague and, legally, completely benign. Why bother to worry about it? Not saying that Paradox's posts aren't over the top. I didn't see anything like this last one before the moderators stepped in. My comment above was about a different post from a long...

Re: Millennium DSP Plugin-Suite.
I like some of the weird, custom licenses out there. They can be quite fun. If you don't like them or don't trust them, quite a few, almost all, don't stop you from adding your favorite license as you start to work with the code. If you wanted to be really technical about many of these licenses, you...

Re: The Friday Interview
These interviews have been amazing. Thank you! I wonder why they aren't being promoted on some of the Linux feed sites like LXer.

Re: danboid's qtractor wishlist boils over
I remember there were problem apps and workflow issues with klick when I tested it. I should have documented what worked and what didn't. It sounds like qtractor's midi playback was one of the problem children with how klick does it's tempo ramps with jack. Maybe there's a work around converting the...

Re: Choosing programs for youth music project
Just to make things more complicated, here are two other ideas to add to your list: 1. Use a music centered Linux distro that you can boot from a USB drive. This will give you an open source option that is highly portable and will run on most home machines. You could then center the workshop on Ardo...

Re: danboid's qtractor wishlist boils over
klick is a fairly easy to use command line+script tool for Jack that can automate complex tempo changes for your projects, including tempo ramping. It would be much easier to add an instance of klick as the time master to your projects than to try to add klick's features to qtractor. I tested tempo ...

Sunvox Is Available for Android
I thought I would mention that Sunvox was made available for Android sometime late last year. I just got an Android device and I'm excited to try it out again. If you haven't tried Sunvox yet, there's a free Linux version. Only some of the code is open source (some of the sound engines and some sunv...

Re: Integrating a note editor inside a recorder/sequencer
On the contrary, transform Hydrogen into a LV2-plugin without the sequencer, use it with Ardour3 and the traditional Hydrogen becomes obsolete. drmr is an LV2 plugin that will load and play Hydrogen drum kits. Even though this already makes the kits more easily playable by Ardour3 and other midi se...

Re: Ubuntu 12.10 - any testers?
Its workflow hell, i got RSI from all the extra clicking. There are a lot of reasons to not like Unity (Unity on 12.10 in particular might not be the best KXstudio enviroment), but extra clicking isn't one of them. Unity and HUD provide one of the most straightforward OS keyboard shortcut environme...
