Re: a short question about .nki
I've already had only bad experience with the original poster, so if the info is going to come from me, someone else needs to ask. Jeff, You're an expert on samples and sampling. I grant you that. But some people (like me, for instance) are not as knowledgeable as you. And so they want to lay out t...

Re: Would you help me move to Linux? :)
AloneWolf. FAIW, I'd advise against opening a Windows Virtual Box in Linux, if you're an instrumentalist. I had it once on my desktop, years ago, with electric piano connected through MIDI interface. A note played in Linux was followed by the same from the Windows virtual machine - albeit with consi...

setting up Carla (first steps)
Hello all, For someone still on a learning curve, documentation on how to set up Carla is really sparse. So for better understanding, I really need to start from very humble beginnings and build from there. This community may be of some assistance in that quest, I trust. 1. OS is KDE Mint (17 Qiana)...

Re: a short question about .nki
Thanks very much for your help. Simply changing extension names does the trick, too, I noticed: <'disguised'> formats (i.e. modified ) altered to < existing > formats (say, .wav) plays) perfectly in Audacity and VLC, usually. And in Sforzando too, incidentally. Even underneath some artificial monike...

brief questions about WineASIO
Hello all, Just found this in KXStudio documentation: KXStudio includes WineASIO which provides an ASIO to JACK driver for Wine. Where? Furthermore: WineASIO provides a few options that can be configured within Cadence. [...] Cadence WineASIO settings screenshot: /screenshots/cadence4.png Link is de...

a short question about .nki
Hello all, One of my orchestral libraries originates from Kontakt. The file formats given are .nki and .ncw, respectively. in Linux, however, those extensions should be .sfz and .wav. (for inclusion in Carla, later on). If .nki is indeed a text file (as .sfz. is), it can easily be converted to .sfz,...

Re: .sfz, '.audio', and J- and QSampler
Thanks very much Varpa. Concerning file identification you might considering using the terminal commands "file" or "sndinfo" to identify what a file really is. So to identify the true nature of this .audio file, for instance, what would the command line be? SFZ files are just tex...

Re: .sfz, '.audio', and J- and QSampler
As to question 2 - just found the answer online: linuxsampler? qsampler? jsampler? gigedit? libgig? liblscp? jlscp? ... hu? There are currently seven subprojects in the LinuxSampler project; jlscp, jsampler, libgig, liblscp, linuxsampler, gigedit and qsampler. linuxsampler is the core of the sampler...

Re: .sfz, '.audio', and J- and QSampler
AFAICS it looks like you need the .sfz and the .audio in conjunction. Thanks for that, raboof. But still another query to follow. Following your conclusion and my own chain of thought, are .sfz and .audio in Windows then equivalent to input and output, respectively, in Carla? And furthermore: as sa...

.sfz, '.audio', and J- and QSampler
Hello all, Trying to get to grips with KXStudio, at the mo, I still have a couple of unanswered questions: 1) The musical instrument samples I want to play in KX are currently on my Windows 7 auxiliary laptop. And in order for me to understand what actually needs to be imported in KDE, it's necessar...

Very brief question about Jack
Hello all,
In connection with an internet issue occurring last night, I suddenly realized that I actually don't know as to whether Jack depends on online connection or operates independently.

Re: arranging sfz in carla
In addition to my previous post: it suddenly occurred to me, last night, that 'Instruments' labeled as sfz (see Selection 001, in my first post), in Windows, are serving as mere containers, most probably, of the .audio files in the 'Samples' folder. glowrak guy wrote: Kontakt, Camel Audio, and Toont...

Re: arranging sfz in carla
.audio is a sound file indeed. I just opened a random sample in Audacity (as raw data .wav) and it plays! 01AGuitarMFA1_0002102C.wav What's more, I exported the same to .sfz - and that works, too (although in mono)! But .sfz files can't be shown here, apparently. Size of each .audio file is roughly ...
