I really dont get why people associate linux with bad audio... jack is free software... from the linux community... isn't jack a cut above? hi, i was using crunchbang before, i totally recomend you all have a play with a live cd, for one particular reason - on the desktop there is a little think called conky http://conky.sourceforge.net/ its SO usefull for heavy duty tasks such as video rendering. You can see all the improtant stats etc...

hi, the issue with xine seems to have resolved itslef during updates, which is good - thanks for reply things are going quite well so far. Rendering my first clip in Kdenlive yay!

ps: fixed the minimised thing, had managed to switch off my task manager plasmoid thing - ups!

I believe that your troubles are not due to the distributions but to Kdenlive. The program's recent releases have suffered from many bugs and instabilities, including sound support, rendering, and vagrant crashes. I just wish they would be more open about this stuff.
