Re: Free Downloads by ProtoZone: Yay Flashy Mix!
They sound good. Clear sounds which i like. Well done. Aw, man! Thanks! That is such a great compliment. I really appreciate that! I work hard to get clear sound. It's a big priority for me. And I don't even have pro monitors. This is a good sign if I'm getting decent mixes from really wimpy monito...

Re: Free Downloads by ProtoZone: Yay Flashy Mix!
I like it. Cool sounds. How did you make the sawtooth sound with portamento at 0:45 an 0:53? I think it was just a sawtooth pad made in Vember Surge that had a tiny bit of feedbacked delay on it. I held down a note and pitch bent it manually to the beat. I don't remember which pitchbend interval it...

Re: Reaper setup issues for complete DAW amateur.
If for any reason you decide to try PulseAudio, you will need to edit the Audio settings in "winecfg" (run that program). ALSA or PulseAudio or Default should be OK. If you need extra help, install QasMixer program and set your levels there. Also be sure to check the PulseAudio Volume Sett...

Re: Xruns with Windows VSTs
If you are using Cockos REAPER, you can get some better performance by carefully examining ALL of the REAPER preferences and making some decent changes. For example, disable soundcard inputs if you don't need them. Disable RMS metering if you don't need it. Set peak files to be stored in RAM, and se...

Which DAW/Sequencer has the easiest MIDI quantizing?
Hello, I am a regular 32-bit Windows Reaper user (via WINE). I compose electronic MIDI music with triggered VST instruments. Currently, I'm trying to find a program (LINUX or WINE-based) that has better MIDI support, especially quantizing. Reaper doesn't seem to have a very intuitive MIDI implementa...

Re: shufti - the best image viewer
I really like XnView MP for all of it's features, and Ristretto for when I just need something really simple.
Also, I use IrfanView via Wine when I want to do some color editing.

Re: "Genetic" by Protozone (Electo-Industrial-IDM)
Thanks! I was thinking about FrontLine Assembly when I first made it. I think I used a few different synth layers and mixed them together to sound like one. And then, I decided to be wild and change up the sections drastically. It's turned out to be a good style technique. I've got more good tunes c...

Re: Anyone using Zoom R16 as audio interface in Linux?
I used to own a Zoom R8 and successfully used it with Ubuntu Studio, but I ended up selling it and switching to MX Linux. Ubuntu Studio is nice, but I find that MX is easier to configure, etc.

Synaptic's hidden menus for Carla's Win32 VSTs
If anybody is still having trouble with Carla finding Windows 32-bit VST's, these four tips might help a bit... First, read this forum discussion... there's a lot of stuff in the preceding posts. Secondly, in synaptic, do a keyword search for Carla, then check the list to see what is installed. For ...

"Genetic" by Protozone (Electo-Industrial-IDM)
"Genetic" by Protozone This tune is kind of an Electo-Industrial-IDM experiment of mine. I did this about a year ago, but didn't upload it until recently. I hope you enjoy it. It ought to be a free download for you. https://hearthis.at/protozone/genetic/ Other tunes: https://hearthis.at/pr...

Re: What should I do to make MX Linux pro audio?
OK, so I was able to test MIDI triggering with an M-Audio KeyStation 49es within 32-bit REAPER. I am using WASAPI mode and PulseAudio manually set to low buffer sizes for Wine. So far, everything is good. I just downloaded a bunch of freeware VST instruments, so I'll do some more tests. Also, I will...

@all, Hey guys, thanks very much. I really appreciate the quick and effective help. I was able to establish the audio group and to install the RT kernel stuff from the AVLINUX repo. I installed the 4.9.x and the 4.14.x for 32-bit (of the RT kernels). Both seem to be OK for me so far. Even though the...

Re: What should I do to make MX Linux pro audio?
Hey thanks guys! Already very helpful. @Jack Winter, when you said to search for the rtirq stuff, what did you mean? :?: Search with what? Search where? I already did the /etc/security thing you mentioned though. Thanks In the meantime, I will read the other linked areas. Thanks very much. :D
