Re: normal Linux kernels with threadirqs vs RT patchset

Maybe you have a UEFI system. Do you have /boot/efi?

Re: Ardour4

when i reload a saved nsm session it keeps trying to load ardour3 for me Interesting. When I add "ardour4" as a client it creates another client called "Ardour". Then when I re-open the session later on it will add an additional "Ardour" client and create another sessi...

Re: Ardour4

I'll be keen to find out whether the stability has improved. The stability is improved in the git versions of Ardour3. Also, I found that templates I created in earlier versions of Ardour3 would be unstable when opened in later versions. 3.5.403 with a fresh template cleared up the stability proble...

Re: Fedora Support

I've been using Fedora with the CCRMA stuff for awhile. There is also the "Fedora Jamz" stuff or whatever they call it now. Generally those repos have had everything I've needed but on the off chance I want something slightly newer than what's available I'll just build from source and inst...

Re: Hydrogen starts not from firts beat

Then tell Ardour to use Internal transport instead of Jack Transport. Assuming you're using Ardour 3 it should be a button between your transport buttons and the clock. When you turn it off it will say "Internal".

Re: nvidia with rt kernel

There is a patch mentioned in the the link you posted. It used to work fine for me on the older driver with a 2.6.39 kernel. I've quit using the proprietary driver since then as the nouveau driver has become usable for my purposes in the 3.x kernels. However I get lockups on anything newer than 3.10...

Do you have something like /etc/cron.daily/mlocate?

Probably not advisable since you'd also be disabling prelink and various other scheduled housekeeping processes.

Re: FIND

In Fedora I believe it's started from anacron in cron.daily. So basically that means if your machine is on all the time it would probably run at 4am daily. If you only power your machine up when you use it then updatedb would probably run soon afterward. I don't use Ubuntu, but if it starts from ana...

Re: m-audio firewire solo

I wouldn't say this card is "fully supported" by ffado. It lists "community support" in the ffado community support database. I struggled with one for several years and finally gave up in favor of a comparably priced Echo Audiofire 4 which has all the same feature and is actually...

I gave up hoping for that a long time ago.

Speaking of, does anyone know whatever happened to "Unity"? Wasn't that supposed to bring us the features of LMMS in a Jack-friendly package?
