Re: hissing noise
Thanks, I will record total silence later today. I'm using headphones plugged into the interface, so there are no speakers! You are right about the string noise in hiss-clean.mp3 but if you turn the volume up really loud you will hear a constant noise, it is most audible from 00:05 to 00:11 I guess ...

Re: hissing noise
Yes I do, I didn't really notice up till now but it is definitely there (listen to the new sample) I'm not sure how the noise is amplified by guitarix, I have some really high gain presets but the noise is actually minimal compared to the first sample I posted earlier. I'm pretty sure it's the Behri...

hissing noise
I'm using Guitarix with a Behringer Guitar Link USB Cable and I get a hissing noise but it's not directly amplified by guitarix distortion.
Attached is a short sample of the noise. Without listing all my hardware components, what you do you think could be done about this?

Re: Microphone-to-USB adapter?
I do have a Behringer Guitar Link USB interface but it doesn't have an input for a microphone, only one input for guitar. I am still using this interface because it can be easily used for playing guitar standing up because it's quite portable. So I was thinking about keeping that interface and using...

Microphone-to-USB adapter?
I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a microphone to USB adapter. Should work on Linux of course.

Re: Ocenaudio now with jack support
Looks promising, but it just crashes with an assertion on my Ubuntu box. Let's see what the devs have to say about this.

Re: migrate forums to vanilla or discourse
I'm evaluating forum software myself lately and I found some good commercial mobile friendly phpBB templates: http://demo.rockettheme.com/phpbb-styles/anacron/
No need to switch to a different forum software.

Re: Audacity/Guitarix Recording in MONO
Looks like you're bypassing guitarix completely and recording from "system" instead. You should tell Audacity that it should record from "gx_head_fx". I think you can do that directly from the toolbar dropdown, or in Edit -> Preferences -> Devices. Here is a good introduction: ht...

Re: Hi all from a sound geek in Eastern Washington
Sounds exciting. I'm mostly a rhythm-centric guy myself. I almost treat my guitar like a percussion instrument sometimes. And I do like techno music a lot, although I mostly write metal music. Since I play metal music as a one-man band I'll need to humanize the drums I've made with Hydrogen. It's fu...

would you mind revealing how you made the effect on the female vocals around 0:30? is it sort of a vinyl scratch effect?

Re: Hi all from a sound geek in Eastern Washington
It's really all about putting all these little pieces together until you've built a system that works for you. There's a lot you can get out of Hydrogen I think. I was talking to a drummer lately about Hydrogen and he found that it was way too simple and computer-ish. But he didn't really spend a lo...

Anybody using Non?
I'm still in the process of deciding on a DAW to use and I found Non by accident (thanks to the Linuxmusicproduction site announced here somewhere).
Ardour is a bit complex for me so Non looks pretty cool. But is it still actively developed?
