Re: Do any serious music enthusiasts use Linux?

What novalix said - "serious music enthusiasts" don't exist, and if they did then they wouldn't probably know about Linux.
But pros do... go figure...

Re: Cadence external sound card routing

Hey assarj, and welcome to LM :) I think you also might need an ALSA bridge, I have it like this: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51869351013_9ac1188a16_o_d.png My cabling looks almost like yours, except that I have a headphone correction plugin inserted: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5186...

Re: Acoustic bass samples

I used the free 'Karoryfer Meatbass' before getting a real double bass for myself. Hear it on https://www.wikiloops.com/backingtrack-jam-170956.php, download it at https://shop.karoryfer.com/pages/free-meatbass .

Re: Using Linux for live gig work - how many would trust it?

I have used Linux on my employers' notebook (TP P50) to record live music (our daughter on piano, mikes: Røde, interface: Focusrite). So yes, I'd trust that more than anything. But Windows plugins? Naaah thanks...

Re: Ubuntu 21.04 and Pipewire

The final thing I need is to be able to get pulse audio working at the same time so I can watch youtube instruction videos while having Ardour running. It looks like I need pulse-jack bridging for that, ... You are right, and if you're still trying to get that bridge running, and have the KXStudio ...

Re: What is your favorite female vocalist?

So many who are gone already (like for instance Billie Holiday), and who are still around (like for instance Youn Sun Nah), just to name a few... ... but since these are all kind of unreachable for me personally, I prefer these who I can still work with myself. During the last 3 years, some were for...

Re: First Linux DAW

P.S.: just as I was writing this post above, my RSS bookmarks got upgraded, and now http://planet.linuxaudio.org/ lists https://ubuntustudio.org/2020/10/ubuntu-studio-20-10-released/ (using KDE Plasma) as the latest news... P.P.S.: my latest recording using my setup as described above, with a Focusr...

Re: First Linux DAW

My daughter (still 15, but soon 16) used to use UbuntuStudio on her old machine, now she's using plain Ubuntu (LTS version) plus KXStudio repos on a newer notebook (Dell with i5 and 8GB or RAM). She plays piano. I myself use Debian stable with the KXStudio repos added (and repository means that you'...

Re: Cover song recorded in Ardour

Nice song Craig! I have been meaning to check out the Salamander piano samples. There was another recording posted here recently that used it. My daughter is using it - for instance in her latest song, a 5/4 which she called "The rain's melody": https://www.wikiloops.com/backingtrack-jam-1...

Re: Linux Musicians Playlist

I'm not on Soundcloud since over 2 years or so - tho I did have a collaboration with 'nominal6' aka 'jonetsu' there, see https://soundcloud.com/wjlonien Made 11 albums on Wikiloops so far, and everything I did was made with Linux and Open Source software. There are others there who are also using/wo...

Re: new GxSVT.lv2

Hello again Hermann, hoping that you're ok and well? I know this is an old thread by now, but I just cleaned up my environment a bit and made GxSVT a central part of my setup in Ardour (waiting for Ardour 6 to hit the repos, have it in 5.12 now). Here's a track on which I've used it, both with (melo...
