Same here. I'll come back when they get a valid cert or turn SSL back off.

Re: safety problems?

The site admins or the hosting company messed up. They should have noticed by now.. it might take a few days to fix though.. maybe longer if they're on vacation. It's fairly safe to bypass the SSL warning for a forum... the main risk is that your account could get hacked.. but it's just a forum. If ...

Re: Any recent DAW comparisons?

please, don't take this personally, not even close! Yeah, I know. It's more like... if there's a problem with your program, you'd like to know about it so you can fix it. (It might come as a surprise to non-programmers that most people don't take the time to report bugs, or even complain on twitter...

Re: Any recent DAW comparisons?

we all sort of know that is as certain, as in general, death is to life... however, the OP (@ tavasti ) made some finding and an argument which i do really wish to clear out: does any window focus change lead to momentary silence? and can it ever be said it's a blame evidence on qtractor alone? eve...

Re: Any recent DAW comparisons?

If you have those fancy wobbly window-switching effects, that'll peg your CPU load, especially if your GPU (or driver) isn't up to the task.

Re: KXStudio MuseScore and Jack problem

Musescore's jack driver has serious issues. Try using pulse or alsa I/O in mscore prefs. You can start the bridges in Cadence to route those to jack.

Re: Cannot install kxstudio repos gcc5

I get the same thing on Mint 17.1. I'm not surprised to see a problem with glibmm (C++ support lib for GTK+) ... it's always been a problem child.

@falkTX - The version available in this distro is libglibmm-2.4-1c2a. Maybe that should be an alternate dependency for kxstudio-repos-gcc5?

Re: Brainstorming a new Linux distribution for Music Production and Game Dev

... AV Linux 2016 ..... is now based on Debian Testing and uses the KXStudio repos ... Sweet. That's a monumental improvement over the situation when I started using Linux audio a few years ago. Then: - It was a struggle to get studio software working on mainstream distros - AVLinux was a custom di...

Re: Linux Mint 18 and KXStudio repos

Cool. NSM is awesome if you're using more than just a DAW. Apparently LADISH, LASH, and Jack-session were all failed attempts at a session management system, whose only purpose now is to confuse newbies. Cadence is just "a better Qjackctl" - a dashboard for JACK as well as the Alsa/Pulse b...

Re: Linux Mint 18 and KXStudio repos

@darrel_jw - I haven't tried Mint 18 (17.1 and 17.3 are still perfectly good for my needs), but it looks like the package is available in 16.04: http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/jackd2 There's a slightly different version of jackd2 in the kxstudio repo. If that doesn't work you could try the Ubuntu...
