Re: New Hardware..suggestions?
Wooo! Finally, my sound-card has arrived (paid for on the 11th December on ebay!!!) - it's a Delta 66 with the break-out box. I'm told I need a pre-amp, but I'm not entirely sure what for - I assume I can't simply plug straight into the breakout box from the 'out' of my Marshall amp? Also, can anyon...

Re: Can someone tell me the difference please?
Hmmm...that makes them about 25 quid. Mind you the pound is extremely weak at the moment too - £1 = €1 at the moment!
I might ask a friend of mine in Missouri if he would buy one over there and send it on to me.

Re: Can someone tell me the difference please?
Thanks for that. Ha - that's almost exactly the same model I have (had?)- mine was called a midisport I think though (not the same company now is it?) I will have a serious look around the house tonight and if I can't find it I'll order one up - I am champing at the bit to get this up and running. T...

Re: Can someone tell me the difference please?
Update: I have just bought the 66 on ebay, so hopefully should turn up soon.
Still need MIDI though...I have a feeling I am going to be turning the house upside down looking for my USB-MIDI converter!

Re: Can someone tell me the difference please?
Hi, thanks for that. The only 66s I can find on ebay are nearer $200 sadly (living in the UK at the moment is very expensive in all aspects it seems). However, if I were to get the 66, does that mean that I also need a USB midiport thing? I do have one somewhere, but I have mislaid it in my house mo...

Re: Can someone tell me the difference please?
Fair enough - I think the 66 might be overkill for what I want to do.
I think I'll go for the cheaper option

Can someone tell me the difference please?
Hi all, I'm struggling to tell the difference between this: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Audiophile2496.html and this: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Delta66.html Obviously one must be better than the other, it's dearer for a start, but as I will only be recording on my own with one ...

Re: M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496
Ahh - ok, thank you.
I will have a look on ebay for that too
If I were to get the Delta 66 instead would I still need a pre-amp, or is that what the greyish box is that comes with it?

Re: M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496
I've seen one on ebay for 40 quid, all I need to do is to record a maximum of 2 audio inputs, and 1 midi. For 40 quid I think I might take the chance - I'm on Ubuntu 8.10 at the moment, but as the machine is about to become a dedicated DAW I can change the OS to whatever works. So this card can be u...

Hi all,
is this card supported in Linux?
M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496
If so, has anyone any experience of using one?

Fair enough - hopefully, if all things are good, this weekend I should be able to try both.
Will report back.

SCSI v SATA
Is there any advantage over using SCSI over SATA for recording?
I have two 36gb SCSI discs - both 10k rpm, I was thinking of using these instead of SATA.

Dead Again - I think it's called.
Hi all, I think the song is called 'Dead Again' by William Orbit (????) - but it's the song from the beginning of American Beauty and is played throughout the film at various places. There's a sound in there that sounds a little like a slowed sown Sitar or most certainly a stringed instrument - it's...

Re: New Hardware..suggestions?
Ahh - If I WERE allowed to use this beast that wouldn't be a problem. I bought a 850W PSU with a silent fan, the case fans are from a firm called 'Silent Fan' (and there are 4 of the sods), the graphics card is fanless (it has a heatsink the size of Corsica mind!), the case is coated on the inside w...
