Re: sfArk to sf2 converter
OK, it works. Thanks. But note that the instructions on http://blogs.fsfe.org/samtuke/?p=589 are different: git clone https://github.com/raboof/sfArkLib.github You recommend: git clone http://github.com/raboof/sfArkLib Your way works, the other doesn't. But then I run 'make' and get this error: g++ ...

Re: sfArk to sf2 converter
None of this works for me. The git repository demands user/password credentials, which I don't have, and the online converter fails with all the files I have here.

Re: Ardour4
It loads so fast now it's hard to believe. I might even consider uninstalling Audacity, which I used to prefer for those quick'n'dirty editing jobs.

Re: using multiple hard drives
So I suppose you can keep the swap partition and use the swapon/swapoff command to toggle it.

Re: using multiple hard drives
- Don't create any swap partitions. It will affect drive performance and impact the SSD's lifespan. (This is why you got that extra RAM). I wonder if that is true. I've always worked with little RAM (not with music, though; I am a newbie in this area), and I've had many resource meters installed th...

Welcome aboard, mate. Not aussie here, but got friends in Perth and Port Hedland, Melbourne should be good for a change or for anything else. Peace. Love. Music.

Re: using multiple hard drives
https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/optimize-live-multiple-hard-drive-setup/ any thoughts when applying this to a linux setup? Thought #1: I am very familiar with that concept because I've come across quite a few people who advocated the use of several disks to improve performance. The idea back th...

Re: Lexicon Omega doesn't work
My problem is solved again, though somewhat mysteriously: I just connected the interface to another USB port. The mystery is in the fact that none of my chassis rear USB port works with the Lexicon Omega. It only works on one of the front panel ports, and according to the motherboard manual all the ...

Re: Lexicon Omega doesn't work
I have a new problem with my Omega interface. I had 32-bit Debian Wheezy on a netbook that I knew wasn't going to last long. It died, so I bought a new computer and installed 64-bit Debian testing (Jessie) on it. When I configure JACK on Cadence to use the internal sound card, everything works, but ...

Unpredictable-unreliable connections
You know what, I am beginning to like JACK. It is a lot like piping data and commands on the command line, but with sounds. Lots of fun. :D Except when JACK kicks off my sand castles and I have to build everything again. That's not fun. :x For example, look at this picture: http://img.ctrlv.in/img/1...

Re: Inexpensive mini USB/Midi Keyboard Controller
I have an M-Audio Axiom Air Mini 32 and I like it. Pros: * 32 keys rather than 25. * it has some cursor/arrow keys to which I haven't found any use yet, but I know I will. Cons: * I am not happy with the keys; they're small and clumsy. But I was on a budget. :-\ * It can't be powered by AC, only ove...

[SOLVED] Re: Lexicon Omega doesn't work
OK, I solved that riddle myself. I just had to reconfigure Cadence to use the Omega as the device/interface of choice.
I think I can get by now. Thanks.

Re: Lexicon Omega doesn't work
Making a long story short, my problem is solved for the most part. The dealer took the old unit and gave me a new one, which is working. At least it seems to be in pretty good working order. And this one hums less than the other. There is still a little bit, but a lot less, it's almost tolerable. It...

Re: Lexicon Omega doesn't work
Another thing, when I connect my headphones to the headphone output, I hear a quite loud hum. Turning off (zero gain) all the channels helps, but the hum is definitely still there. I plugged a tablet to the LINE input and I could monitor it, but the hum doesn't go away.
