Re: Compiling (from latest git source) on Manjaro...
I didn't do that, because I just followed what it said on your page for "Get the latest source code through git". I don't know how to "change branches". I have never used the git command before. It's ok. I was able to figure out how to do that. But I still had to use an Ubuntu va...

Re: Compiling (from latest git source) on Manjaro...
I tried compiling from the git again this morning (several hours after your post) and it gave me the same error.
I then tried building it in Xubuntu (from a live USB, after installing the prerequisites) and got past the ./autogen.sh stage, but during the make stage it had errors. I gave up.

Compiling (from latest git source) on Manjaro...
Since I'm using Manjaro and it's an Arch derivative, it has different package names from Debian/Ubuntu, and I'm unsure what dependencies to install before compiling DrumGizmo from the latest git source. It's failing in the ./autogen.sh step (with the error "autoreconf: error: automake failed wi...

Re: Reaper vs Ardour?
In the nicest possible way : I don't give a fuck what you or anyone else does with their computer. However, when someone turning up here asks for a software recommendation I will recommend the open source version first, and put the case for it. No offence, thanks for the drumkit, and I liked your l...

Re: Reaper vs Ardour?
bhilmers and JamesPeters if you answered the question "Why do you use Linux?" I certainly didn't see it. You dealt more with why you use proprietary software which, in my interpretation, is because you like it, and that's fine. You asked a question which was a non-sequitur at best, and di...

merlyn : Like bhilmers, I'm not an open-source snob. If some software isn't open source and does what I want, I'll consider purchasing a license. Humanity being what it is, sometimes you need to ask to get paid a fair price for your work, and also that you prevent your product from being released b...

Re: Reaper vs Ardour?
...but it's not what I'm used to. This is a tall hurdle for people to overcome. I doubt you can appreciate Reaper until you've gotten accustomed to the way it works. Which by the way, was very easy for me after having used: Cakewalk, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic for PC, n-Track Studio, Sonar. Reaper has s...

Re: Reaper vs Ardour?
The Reaper love is coming from people who produce electronic music. Not me. Reaper's great for stuff other than that. I've been teaching basic Reaper over lockdown but I'm glad to get back to Ardour which could be due to the fact that I'm used to it. One thing that annoys me about Reaper is that th...

Re: Surge 1.9 released
You can install the .deb that's on the main Surge page. If .deb files don't work for your distro, you can still install from it without much trouble. It's just a couple pre-made binaries and some preset files. I did this in Manjaro, since I didn't realize it would be in the repo so soon (I could've ...

Re: Free acoustic drum bank for DrumGizmo, 1.7 GB, round robin
Vincent Sermonne, who recorded the samples of his drumkit (which I used to make this DrumGizmo drumkit), will be hosting this DrumGizmo drumkit on his site soon. I'll update the first post in the thread when that happens. On his site there are 2 more kits that I assembled from samples he recorded. T...

Re: LV2 and clicky-kit: resizing issue
It's my kit, revised with the clicky-kit functionality. I just found the problem... I'd made both clicky-kit images with a background (a grey-white gradient) behind the drums. When I made a new version of the color map image, with only the drums themselves (and with transparency around all the kit p...

Re: LV2 and clicky-kit: resizing issue
I just tried the one in the Manjaro repo in case my own build was causing it. It still has that bug. Did you try: loading the kit, closing the window, then opening the window again? Initially upon loading the kit, it looks fine. It's only when you open the window after DrumGizmo has the kit loaded, ...

Re: LV2 and clicky-kit: resizing issue
I hadn't tried this in Ardour. I just tried it now. It seems this only happens in Reaper for Linux, so I guess I should report it to Cockos. If you have any hints I could provide to them for fixing the bug, I'm sure it would be appreciated if I pass them along in the report. I haven't noticed this w...

[user error] LV2 and clicky-kit: resizing issue
(edit)This was my mistake. The solution to this is in post 7 . The color map clicky-kit image needs to be transparent except for the colored shapes.(/edit) ------- First I want to mention that DrumGizmo LV2 works well in Reaper for Linux, as well as the VST version. (I'm using DrumGizmo 0.9.19 with ...
