Ardour How to split stereo directly to 2 mono?
I am sending a stereo signal into ardour and want to send that stereo signal into two seperate mono tracks. So left to one mono, and right to another mono track. I got it that far that i had the left on one track and right at another track. But both tracks automatically became stereo tracks with one...

The MIDAS pre-amps also are a plus for the 22 over the 2. Big differences for only a hand full off euros.

That is what i can find too.lilith wrote:It also seems to work out of the box in Linux.
Could find that the U-Phoria UMC2 for sure works with linux. As also for the U-Phoria UMC404HD.
For the U-Phoria UMC22 i could not find confirmation yet.
Now i am doubting between the U-Phoria UMC2 or the UMC22.

Re: Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 or Zoom U-22?
The line input does not concern me as everything else will happen behind it. The one time something needs to be done before it i have other extending options available, like a portable mixer. It will mostly be used for a one microphone recording which will be used in the studio later. With the recor...

Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 or Zoom U-22?
I am thinking about buying a simple interface to be some more flexible outside my fixed studio. Thinking about the Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 or the Zoom U-22. Do both work well with Ubuntu aka linux? Plug 'n play? And is there a significant different between both which explains the difference in pric...

Re: Trying to get microphone audio levels right
Were did you connect your microphone with the zoom? LINE IN jack or the XLR? And remind that your microphone impedance is 600 ohms. That is pretty high. Not all interfaces or connectors on them can handle that. Perhaps you need a pre-amp. Shure sm57/58 for instance are 150 ohm. Connected by XLR. We...

Re: Any guitarists have ideas for creating this effect with plugins? Shallow Water
@zoco I was actually saying that chorus won't do this. The Shallow Water effect needs a longer delay than chorus provides. The video @ufug posted says "there is no pattern for the ear to latch onto" and that also isn't chorus. Chorus has a pattern to the pitch variation -- usually a sine ...

Re: what is xrun?
Thank you for the warning Ufug. I have had them, one or two each time, about three times or so myself so no problem at all. Exactly that was why i was interested in what it is and does.

Re: Any guitarists have ideas for creating this effect with plugins? Shallow Water
I go with merlyn. Experiment some with chorus, and perhaps with some phaser on it. Perhaps at the end extended with some slight reverb or echo.
And cut some high to get the stuffy muted sound.
This must do it for at least a big part if not all.

Re: what is xrun?
It is important to note that processing latency in a jackd is a matter of choice. It can be lowered within the limits imposed by the hardware (audio device, CPU and bus speed) and audio driver. Lower latencies increase the load on the system because it needs to process the audio in smaller chunks w...

I rarely have them so never bothered about them. Know they exist and read about them.
Bring me the probably newb question, what is an xrun exactly?

Re: "Open Source" musicians
I guess i am, and our band is. :D But what exactly is the definition of "Open source musician"? So much free to download music on the internet. Even metallica once accepted downloading after resting against it up to court. Are they then "Open source musician"? Or must they clearl...
