This is in the tradition of my beloved Unix. Having written the documentation, they then double checked with the programs, and if the two differed, they picked the best and changed the other to conform.
But your work shows itself off ...by working

Re: KXStudio documentation (preparations)
I would say text window. See if other suggestions are better! I didn't know about cadence Jack meter before, so learned something new today :) It is jack_meter2 on my system. Maybe because I'm looking at 11.04 still? Note that the peak values are based on programming data... As a novice, I don't und...

Re: KXStudio documentation (preparations)
A quibble on the Log app: it is not an "editor" because an editor would allow changes to be made and saved. Glad to know the documentation project is underway! A general hint: be as economical with words as possible. When editing, be generous with the red pen (crossing things out). This is...

Re: KXStudio FAQ
With respect to your creative sensibilities, I would suggest that you remove the application of the theme from the Welcome Script or at least default it to not selected. Isn't System->Preferences->Appearance->Themes the appropriate place to be changing the appearance of the desktop? Shouldn't the KX...

Re: The state of Firewire audio on Linux
I find the treatment of Firewire by Ubuntu, which is far as my experience goes so far, utterly dismal. There is really no recognition that a user, whether a musician, a studio guy, or just a listener, might want to plug in, not only a PCI card or a USB device ...but a Firewire device. Actually, I se...

Re: KX Studio 12.04
by "a super-powerful Synaptic" do you mean something other than the Synaptic package manager program that exists? I.e. are you taking about a hypothetical dream or are you saying Ubuntu ought to use Synaptic instead of the Software Center? Yes and yes ;). I'm dreaming about how an enhance...

Re: KX Studio 12.04
Thad, that is all well said, but I actually like KDE at this point. And I am a musician. I like KXStudio, and am using mostly KDE stuff overall. I just want to be able to change the color scheme for gtk stuff within KDE because I want to use a few programs that are gtk… My last install was the most...

Re: KX Studio 12.04
You might try a different approach to installation. I don't want a heap of KDE stuff, and I don't need quite a few of the things (a lot of plugins, as a non-musician, for instance). The KXStudio installation methodology I have followed is (in principle if not in detail) the one described in this thr...

Re: KX Studio 12.04
This was the qtconfig tweak . The trouble is that I can't remember if I needed to do this for KXStudio tools. Anyway, one day I'll be running virtualbox, which is there that particular MATE-forums thread started. I've seen falkTX say that most Linux is enough the same that we ought to be able to get...

Re: Do I really need an RT(Real Time) kernel
Exactly. It doesn't matter how fast the cars are, if they are stopped at the signal to let something else pass. Interrupts are the signalsTrue, we wont the lowest possible latency, but the main goal is a stable time frame, to avoid glitches.

Re: KX Studio 12.04
...There's no issues whatsoever with the functioning of the KXStudio GUI stuff under any desktop? I noted that KDE and xfce are the only officially KXStudio-supported DE's... i think there's one tweak needed for Qt apps under MATE. Probably I'll do the whole installation once or twice more and get ...

Re: KX Studio 12.04
Interesting, incidentally, that you've now appeared to do what I did and leave the dark KXStudio color scheme in favor of something more normal. I love FalkTX's software, but not his taste in colours :) When you run KXStudio Welcome... Just uncheck this... KX-no-theme.jpg My current system is Ubunt...

Re: Do I really need an RT(Real Time) kernel
For reference, I tried simply turning off the wireless (unchecking "enable wireless" in the network settings) and that didn't help. Try turning it off in the BIOS. If your problem is a piece of hardware asking for something to do every so often, then there may be a difference between OFF ...
