Re: Qtractor is maximized without window borders

Maybe a stupid suggestion, but could pressing ctrl-m be of any help?

Re: The Art of Mastering

Here is the link to the U-he native Linux Plugins: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=424953 These builds are called 'beta' but in my experience they work great, the only problem is on some systems there is an issue getting the gtk3 menus to show up in Ardour and Mixbus. If you...

Re: The Art of Mastering

This thread turned fruitful a lot quicker than I expected. Thank you all! An important question is: What are your goals specifically? For me, the main answer is translation. That the track will sound as much as possible the way it was intended to whether it's played on a great hifi, in a car, on a r...

The Art of Mastering

Mastering the already mixed down audio track seems to be the most mysterious process of sound engineering. An area filled with secrecy. So I would like to ask those of you here who actually do mastering - what is your procedure? What tricks have you come across? Maybe we could learn from eachother. ...

Re: linux-rt, linux-rt-lts, linux-lqx(Liquorix) and linux-rt-bfq, which is the best?...

My experience in Debian Testing is that Linux-rt can handle a lot lower latencies and larger workloads than Liquorix. On the other hand, Liquorix runs really smooth for almost everything. The result is that I: 1/ use the Liquorix kernel as my default. Also for audio production. And it's perfect for ...

Re: Sound issues in Qtractor qt5 build

Let this be a lesson for anyone struggling with poltergeists. You don't need to call Ghostbusters. You could simply remove the config file. try this: 1) quit or exit qtractor if running; 2) move the configuration file away ( ~/.config/rncbc.org/Qtractor.conf ) (remove or rename it to somewhere or so...

[SOLVED] Sound issues in Qtractor qt5 build

A while ago Qtractor (at least the KXstudio build of it) went from qt4 to qt5. I had a bit of graphical trouble in beginning, making me stick to qt4. After some qt updates I can now open the qt5 build (and any qt5 application) without any problems, everything seems fine. Except that the sound behave...

Re: What happened to Freqtweak?

Thanks for the answer. Yes, I'm guessing it's possible to build from source.* I just have a feeling it used to be in the KX Studio repos, and now it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Really not a big problem, just sad if a cool tool like Freqtweak disappears simply because it's old. * as I run Debia...

What happened to Freqtweak?

Hey. As I wanted to use Freqtweak in a project (for the first time in a couple of years), I just realized it's gone from the repos. Not too strange, of course, the latest version I find of it is from 2009. I guess there's a good reason it's gone, probably dependency issues or something similar. A bi...

Re: Qtractor can't open Calf Plugins

I always feel bad when bringing up issues I have with Qtractor. Please never forget it's my no. 1 favourite piece of software. I love you for making it. So here it goes: midi tracks sound terrible on the qt5 build? in what freaking way ? o.O please, elaborate on this experience as much as you...

Re: Qtractor can't open Calf Plugins

For the issue with Calf GUIs in Qtractor, this worked for me in Debian testing: 1/ sudo apt install qt5-style-plugins 2/ export QT_STYLE_OVERRIDE='gtk2' 3/ Open Qtractor, press F12 -> Display -> Style theme -> change this to gtk2. 4/ Qtractor looks great again, GUIs work again. Unfortunately this fi...

Re: Changes in KXStudio repositories

But the problem with Qtractor seems to be qt/gtk related anyway. The 90's look of my Kid3-qt confirmed that something's not right in my qt departement. I guess the freezing of Calf GUIs is related to the same issue. I tried to install the "qt5-style-plugins", as this package brings more q...

Re: Changes in KXStudio repositories

If your qt5 build links to gtk3 for theming support it might be an issue. Basically means loading a gtk2 based plugin ui will crash qtractor.. seems to be related to this https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=214147 Yes, I think you are right about that. As you often are. Good news is that it ...

Re: Changes in KXStudio repositories

do a system packages update again (new carla build from a few hours ago), then try this: sudo apt-get install carla-git=2:1.9.5~git20161231v5 I'll do that, it just hasn't reached me yet. To be honest, Carla is not my main concern. Qtractor is what I need for work on monday. But the problem with Qtr...

Re: Changes in KXStudio repositories

The output of the first command is not usable, it misses the full version number which is what I want... Run it again, this time in a terminal with its window maximized. Ah. Sorry. Here it is: :~$ dpkg -l carla-git qtractor kxstudio-repos-gcc5 Ønsket=Ukjent/Installer/Fjern/Rens ut/Hold tilbake | St...
