I've been pretty happy with ubuntu studio in the past, but the last few releases leaved a bit to be desired - perhaps give the 64studio 3.0 beta a shot?

Re: Beatrix

hack a quick organ program that simulates the internal signal flow of the "Connie" with JACK MIDI input and JACK audio output. http://cryptomys.de/horo/Connie/Connie-0.1.tar.gz At under 620 lines of C code, this is pretty impressive work: a decent-sounding organ with various parameters an...

Perhaps we could host the forum and perhaps the SVN as a read-only archive here?

Re: Configuration 'quickscan'

The script helped me to help someone Good to hear :). it should also be improved imo, maybe we can discuss it some more here and maybe you can post it on LAD mailinglist to improve it. Agreed. Perhaps I should put it in a public versioning system and open a bugtracker for it somewhere - google code...

specifying '-sleepgrain 1' (or some other low value) further improves latencies

PureData MIDI latency

I'm using PureData PureData for some MIDI processing (a very versatile tool: i might write a separate article about that at some point), and found out something unexpected: Running live MIDI though PureData, I noticed the latency left a bit to be desired. Digging around a bit, and triggered by the f...

I put up a mirror at http://arnout.engelen.eu/files/dev/linu ... et.tar.bz2 . not a very good connection (yet), but should beat rapidshare.

Unfortunately ubuntu doesn't carry pulseaudio-module-jack, so i had to jump though some hoops. Now it works quite nicely :)

Flash & jack

It'd be nice to be able to play YouTube videos while doodling along though the realtime Jack stack. I tried libflashsupport-jack. It sort of works, but sound skips a bit and firefox becomes very unstable (seems like memory corruption to me). Also, it's a bit inconvenient that you need to start firef...

Re: CONFIG_NO_HZ

A thread on LAT suggests CONFIG_NO_HZ is not bad for realtime, and the 64studio kernel also has it enabled as oflinux-image-2.6.29-1-multimedia-686. I'm removing the check from realTimeConfigQuickScan.pl.

Re: Stereo mic only captures in mono

You might need a phantom power box for your microphone if I understand correctly. :?: Some more googling brings up http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=712102&mpage=1&#712201 and http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=bf4343ffa8e6bde1db4f9019aef1ff66&showtopic=14265&pid=87293&mode...

Re: Stereo mic only captures in mono

ubuntu bug 62855 the problem is not on the line-in jack but on the mic-in jack!!!! Actually, if you read the rest of the issue, it also affected microphone capture. But as you're running 1.0.16, you're facing a different issue. also i don't even have that "alsa-lib", although I really hav...

Re: Stereo mic only captures in mono

i have onboard AC97 sound A quick google ('alsa AC97 stereo mic') turned up ubuntu bug 62855 , which suggests a bug with stereo capturing was fixed between 1.0.10 and 1.0.11. What distro are you using? What version of alsa are you using? You might also want to download and run www.alsa-project.org/...

Re: Beatrix

I am working on a patch to the kernel module kfusd. kfusd can simulate device nodes and is used by oss2jack which creates a jack client with some fake /dev/dsp That deserves some more attention than just a post in a forum somewhere - at least a wiki entry. http://fort2.xdas.com/~kor/oss2jack/ menti...
