Re: Obituary thread for musicians

RIP Steve Harwell from Smash Mouth, famous for their song "All Star" and their cover of The Monkees' "I'm a believer" featured in Shrek, among other things.

Re: Greets

Schism Tracker brought me back into the game some 5 years ago. I was an Impulse Tracker user in the nineties and never could get comfortable with other trackers in the meantime. Although I have Renoise too, I can't get used to its scroll behaviour. There are some modern libre trackers which are nic...

Wow, great synthesis! Did you program all the presets?

The music and atmosphere is amazing as always, Tenaba :D

Re: New member looking to blend hobbies

Welcome! As for old media, my suggestion for today if you haven't watched it already is...how old? I'll go with a great movie from the 50s, "La strada" by Federico Fellini.

Dear ImGui - why is it not used more?

I've known Dear ImGui for many years but have rarely seen it used. Today I stumbled into a project with a very nice GUI and I said "wow, is this heavily customized Qt?" but it's actually Dear ImGui. Sure, it feels a bit Amiga-ish (I actually like it but I understand that it does not feel &...

Re: What are you currently reading?

Seems an interesting book. I don't so much struggle with, but rather have a large disdain for, digitalised life. Ironic isn't it, posting that on an internet forum? Although I'm here for the sharing of knowledge more than anything else. I like internet forums and mailing lists, they are still text-...

Re: dedicated Hobby Musician & Linux User

Hello! Since you seem to do a lot of tracking, I heartily recommend Ardour as a DAW.

Re: GeekOSDAW, does it work with Tumbleweed?

Also, BTW you guys are doing a terrific job, the Package lists are quite something! Kudos! Thanks! We just tried to collect the wonderful work of many FLOSS developers. I would personally consider the repo feature-complete because we have high-quality software covering all major areas of music-maki...

Re: what sequencer to teach my kid?

I would go for MusE, because it's very easy to pick up and has easy-to-use audio and MIDI capabilities. Else, Ardour.

The sound you get from samples is just amazing, how do you do it! I dislike them even in many commercial records, but you make them sound credible :D

Re: Two soundtrack pieces

Sea of pain is great at creating atmosphere with so little arrangement. Very nice synth work!

Fog and white roses is a nice and moving composition. For being a symphonic piece played by a computer, this is not an easy feat to achieve!
