Upgrading to Neon 18.04 bringing KXStudio along?
Hi all, I'm still sitting with KDE Neon 16.04 and was delaying upgrading, worrying about whether everything will be solid with 18.04 and KXStudio. Is it safe enough to go forward and do the built-in KDE Neon update? Acknowledging that a fresh install is generally the cleanest, I could do that I supp...

Re: Firefox + Soundcloud balance strangeness
I already have it set to just 2 channels per https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=18531&p=93046&hilit=channels+pulse+jack#p93046 And if I turn of the remixing, I won't get stereo speakers for any mono input to pulse. So, that's not a worthwhile and doesn't help in this case a...

Firefox + Soundcloud balance strangeness
Not sure if related to https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=18062 But anyway, I'm on KDE Neon 16.04 with KXStudio, using Firefox 64, and pulse bridge in Cadence… I've found that if I listen to Soundcloud in Firefox, one side of the stereo stream is much quieter than the other. This do...

Re: BackupBand 0.C
The downloads have instruments marked 41 and 48. 41 is supposed to refer to 44.1kHz? I tried downloading those but the folder extracted was not recognized. The program said I needed a folder called "44khz". Renaming worked. Strange that "41" instruments are a lot larger file size...

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing
I know that Ubuntu has switched from gnome to unity to whatever they use now... Question: Might it be best to ditch neon until it matures and go with something lite and reliable like MATE? Or does Carla and that good stuff have KDE libs and QT stuff baked in requiring KDE or Neon? I'm just a user, ...

Re: Installing Melodyne
don't know what changed, but I installed the Studio update and it worked today for the first time! Maybe it was a Wine update or a change on Melodyne or something else. But YAY! That said, all I can do is import WAV files, no way to get it to connect to my audio system for input. But I can still man...

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing
Does plain quick file and directory search by name work in Dolphin without the file indexer?
Aside from that, I get your point. KXStudio is thus one ISO option to actually have KDE LTS (which seems like a good thing for sure).

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing
I saw the earlier post, but it mentioned "right now", so is that to say Neon stable isn't an option currently or some other thing, where if I wait I can later get regular Neon and the audio patched stuff?
Otherwise, why not make the file indexer an *option* in KXStudio, just off by default?

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing
Gotcha, but it will be possible at some point to use regular Neon, add the repos, and still get any important patched stuff then? Such as kmix or whatever else? I suppose there will be some list of what's patched in KDE? That might help someone like me decide whether to go with the ISO or with Neon+...

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing
What if I want the file indexer and to be able to just manually turn it off if necessary for me? I appreciate and use the file indexer. I've also found that pulse, while awkward in some ways, works well through the JACK bridge and having it makes sure that all programs function (some don't have non-...

Re: transition everything to Discourse
Personal experience here: I have used discourse (as user on their a couple of forums), and I just dont like how it works. Using it feels quite subpar compared to what we have here. The fact that it relies on javascript so much is also a PITA Discourse is superior to most other Javascript-heavy opti...

Re: transition everything to Discourse
I met the head of phpBB at OSCON a couple months ago, and he seemed aweomse and made me feel good about phpBB as a project still. Furthermore, he supported all my ideas about better moderation / conflict-resolution / staying-on-topic and will build out suggestions when I get around to formulating th...

Re: Ardour fails to load ZynAddSubFX in existing session
Something changed just today that made this happen for me! I literally was working on a session, closed it, reloaded Ardour and then got this failure. I don't understand the references from earlier chat about what to do. EDIT: I just added Zyn again from the plugins, and it's just the new LV2 that's...
