Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs
Right, system performance and xruns are relative to each user's workload. That's why I'm looking for a standard load to run (test, tweak, repeat) as it relates to A/V. I have a feeling it'd come down to one or more of the tests provided by http://phoronix-test-suite.com.

Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs
Hello, Still quite new to doing full-blown DAW via GNU/Linux and as we all know, there are plenty of knobs to tweak. I'd really like to come up with a standard test suite that attempts to generate XRUNs so I can track progress as I fine tune my system. I'm asking for opinions on what this test shoul...

How to "browse" sf2 files quickly and easily?
Hello, I downloaded and extracted > 3.5G of sf2 files onto my disk. In the event anyone reading is curious, I'm talking about these: https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1200140/1 OK so, now that I've got all these, I want to "browse" them easily. So far, that has not been possible since I...

Re: Navigating Regions and/or Parts with Drum Editor
Actually, I found a work-around to all of these issues as it relates to the Drum Editor. As of now, I'm just gluing all of my parts into a single part. That way, I shouldn't have to deal with the navigation issues. That move alone will save me tons of key strokes and mouse usage. Still hating on the...

Re: Navigating Regions and/or Parts with Drum Editor
Also totally worth mentioning is that the editor doesn't automatically shift over when multiple "select next part" are used. In other words, after a few of these, the "active part" is focused outside of what is visible on the screen so I have to go grab the mouse and start messin...

Re: Seems like some layout improvements may be long overdue
Sounds good. I was actually talking about the hardcoded "2 3 4" between measures. These represent beats but honestly, I'd really prefer not seeing them at all if possible. The lines are good enough in terms of understanding where each beat is.

Re: Navigating Regions and/or Parts with Drum Editor
Hi Tim, Thank you for explaining. I did know about the ability to select multiple parts prior to opening the editor but got stumped with the whole "grey note" thing. Now I understand the connection between them and the ability to "select prior or next part". Cool. As to the issue...

Navigating Regions and/or Parts with Drum Editor
Before I begin, I should admit I'm confused about the meaning between the words "part" and "region". I'm assuming they mean the same thing; a defined block of time on a track containing notes that can be double clicked on or right clicked on. I'm not getting something here and fi...

Re: Very large value suggested by jack_iodelay
Hi, Thanks for the response. I read up on, and ran jack_delay and can confirm what you said about it not reporting a suggestion. After re-reading your response, I realized you're still advocating I use jack_iodelay so I went back to using that tool. After making sure jack's latency i/o settings were...

Very large value suggested by jack_iodelay
Hello Linux Musicians, I followed the advice on https://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/latency in order to determine the best i/o extra latency values for Jack and see this suggestion: 3111.564 frames 64.824 ms total roundtrip latency extra loopback latency: 4294966313 frames use 2147483156 for the backen...

Re: Zyn-Fusion LV2 3.0.3
In the event anyone else comes across this, my current work-around is to load Zyn-Fusion inside Carla and then access it via the carla-rack lv2 plugin.

2 menu entries for ZynAddSubFX synth
Hello, I had the older version of ZynAddSubFX installed at one time but have since replaced it by compiling Zyn-Fusion. Now, when I add a new track and select Add Synth -> LV2 (synths), I see 2 entries for "ZynAddSubFX LV2". I know the top-most entry relates to the older version since the ...
