Re: hooray for falktx!
Is there a comand line to install audacity 3.1 or did you compile it from source? I can prepare some 3.1-unstable/latest packages, but why exactly do you ask this? You can compile it from source, sure. This might help just a tiny bit: sudo apt-get build-dep audacity Sorry about that about 50% of th...

Re: Noise floor in a home studio- what is reasonable to expe
You can called rme high end all you want but just because rme charges a lot doesnt make it high quality. I gaurantee you will never turn on your radio and hear a song recorded on a rme. The best sounding in the price range are the lynx and the converters on that are about as good as the ones on the ...

Re: Is ardour 3 reliable for 12h non stop-recording?
I run amd 965 on kxstudio and a lot of time leave ardour open for months. The only time I even get an xrun is if I open another program while recording. I would just turn off the internet and not open any other programs. You should be fine.

Re: Drum sostware usage.
The closest things I can think of is there is a tutorial on youtube on making samples or loops in ardour. I don't use any of those programs you mentioned. I have used hydrogen a little. There are plenty of tutorials on it look it up. The problem I see is your going to have to learn a few different p...

Re: Noise floor in a home studio- what is reasonable to expe
Most mics don't cause floor noise. I have plenty of mics from the 25 to 100 dollar range. Some cheap mics sound great others not so much. You would be hard pressed to find one that is causing noise. Second spending 1000 dollars a channel on a mixer and running it through an m audio or rme . Is like ...

Exactly. Write it anyway you want because it is a Wiki! What you read just now is already my edits of what Dan started with (which he welcomed and is part of the creative process). Just some feedback, Alwaysanewb: your post comes across to me as being defensive about criticism. In other words, it s...

Re: KX mini manual
That looks awesome. I would acctually just write it anyway you want. There are a number of differn't onpions on how things can or should be done. If anyone likes to do things differenty they can make a youtube video demoing how they do things or write there own faq and post it somewhere. It's not th...

Re: Noise floor in a home studio- what is reasonable to expe
I wouldn't worry about it to much unless you can actually hear it. Mixers, interfaces, and even cords can create noise. Audacity has bigger more detailed wave forms so you can see minute amout of interferance and noise. I think audacity even has a niose reducer plug in. If you can't actually here it...

Re: MP3 play along
Amazon is the best. I think you have to extract the amazon download with something special. I would do a google search. I use amazon but havent downloaded any music in a while.
