Re: Ubuntu studio disco dingo
Ubuntu Studio Controls are stated to be incompatible with Cadence. I don't know why exactly that is the case. Since I started using Ubuntu Studio Controls, I've not had a need to install Cadence. QjackCtl can be opened after JACK and everything else that has been started with Studio Controls (at sta...

Re: What DAW do you use?
I think it's fair to assume that a "digital audio workstation" would come with more than just basic recording and editing capabilities. Top of the charts in this poll is Ardour, which is pretty bare when first installed, no? :) Serious answer: DAWs have been filled with bundled content fo...

Re: What DAW do you use?
I don't think it's surprising Ableton has zero votes, even if it is the most popular eh ... DAW? Ableton is more than a 'DAW' because it comes with a ton of content -- samples, drum machines, plugins, virtual instruments ... Some of the musicians I know use Ableton and they do so because they can g...

Re: Introducing the New RME Fireface UCX II
So they don't want to show the reason for that to their competitors by means of the required opensource kernel module. Does that argument hang together? They could produce a proprietary kernel module, like Nvidia do if I understand correctly. On the RME forum the response from the CEO Matthias Cars...

Re: ACM-Series Plug-Ins Updates and Essential Linux Plug-Ins Collection Released
Are you going to do the reverb for these alternative versions as well? I have the earlier version (SR2B) on many projects on drum buses, sometimes even on bass and the master bus. With subtle dry / wet settings, but it works well that way. On 4K monitors the GUI's just too small. It desperately need...

Re: audio damage
The Audio Damage downloads all have the Win, Mac and Linux versions in a single .zip -file. I don't think they really keep track of how many of their customers use Linux. :) Honestly, I think we're most likely going to get the Linux versions from developers that either like using Linux themselves (o...

Re: audio damage
(Sorry about the previous two posts) EOS 2 just got released as a native Linux version ( vst / vst3). That's good news to those that have complained there aren't "pro level" algorithmic reverbs available on Linux, right? When it was released originally for win / mac it was widely regarded ...

Re: [SOLVED] RME AIO
Thank you khz, I will do some more tests in the coming days / weeks, but I think I've already tested the MIDI on the AIO with all the ALSA and JACK MIDI options thoroughly. The recurring xrun (just a single one - but it's a loud "crack!" -type of a sound) takes place regularly no matter wh...

Re: Jack Refuses to Start - Help me not give up.
Ok, in Cadence the "frames/periods" field seems to be named "buffer size". Sorry about that - I had forgotten about it. I built a new PC about a month ago and didn't install Cadence on it (I feel it's starting to get a bit outdated with the bridging options). I've been using Cade...

Re: Jack Refuses to Start - Help me not give up.
Your JACK frame rate appears to be very low for an integrated sound device. Raise it to 256, 512 or 1024 on Cadence as the first measure and also make sure the input and output devices on Cadence are the same - and then report back.

Re: [SOLVED] RME AIO
In case somebody is looking for more information on how the RME HDSPe AIO card works on Linux, I should add the following: Unfortunately, I've had some trouble with the MIDI input of this card. I get an xrun every 1-3 minutes when playing busier stuff on a MIDI keyboard that is connected to the MIDI...

Most of the greats - Miles, Coltrane, Shorter, Hancock, Zawinul... from the "not as well-known" ones Eric Dolphy, Andrew Hill, Gabor Szabo (recent find!), Don Byron, Joey Baron etc. Some ECM stuff is fine too, John Surman, Azimuth etc. I've been in the mood for that type of music again aft...
