Re: Threadirqs kernel option with generic kernels

You are missing that the generic Debian Linux kernel doesn't have PREEMPT option enabled like: biser@totalchaos:~$ uname -a Linux totalchaos 4.19.0-6-lzk-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Debian 4.19.67-2 (2019-08-28) x86_64 GNU/Linux biser@totalchaos:~$ I am currently using a custom realtime kernel from t...

Re: Studio 1337 3.3 for free!

Hello l0wt3ch and community, I am having mixed feeling about this. At one hand i am currently downloading the mythical Studio-1337. And the first thing i will do is to see, the settings and the parameters. Are they more wide and generic, like in Ubuntu Studio or KXStudio, or are they more narrow, sp...

Re: XRUNS ... but why?

I have Debian stable and I didn't install anything. But there was definitely something wrong, because the xruncounter script crashed with segfault. Only after installing the kxstudio default settings script it works again. Seems logical. In kxstudio-default-settings you have the proper system tuning...

Re: XRUNS ... but why?

That's not bad. But will this work with alot of VST instruments? Yes, it should. But you need to apply priorities to the VST as well. Guessing that you load them through Wine. If not, then in this low latency sytem state, its more likely to receive xruns from network activity (you should ...

20ms you say. Check this screenshot from my Archlinux with gnome-shell. Think of this screenshot as a Linux Audio porn

Are there any free option to interface with this mythical Studio 1337. Like oldstable distribution, or documentation explaining what are the unique tools and settings of Studio 1337. The community connection.

Re: AV Linux 2020.1.14 Release Candidate for testing only

I've got good news, I successfully install AVLinux on a GPT partition table for BIOS Boot, and without Swap . But there is a catch. The Archlinux Grub bootloader, boot my 4 operating systems, including AVLinux. Interestingly the AVLinux installer named the AVLinux partition SB@ . Everything seems to...

Re: AV Linux 2020.1.14 Release Candidate for testing only

I am currently downloading the latest ISO and i will try to install it. A GRUB from Archlinux starts all installed operating systems. Hopefully that will be an advantage. Later i will modify this post, to include the results and my conclusions of what have happened. Catch you later GMaq.! to be cont...

Re: cadence and pulseaudio not working well

Hi guys, Cadence does not expect another process to manipulate pulseaudio. In 80% of the desktop environments and contemporary Linux distributions, systemd starts a pulseaudio.service that makes sure that is pulseaudio is started and always running. I wrote a workaround of this issue here: https://w...

Re: Best multimedia app on Linux

Is Ubuntu studio( US) the best Linux multimedia distro? Yes, it is. Ubuntu Studio is properly optimized for audio performance out of the box, and also have an unique application (ubuntustudio-controls) that syncs your sound servers (aka JACK, Pulseaudio and ALSA). It has great support, and its is t...

Re: XRUNS ... but why?

You don't need to configure manually your system for audio performance. You just need to install kxstudio-default-settings. Just install it, reboot and check out if the realtimeconfigquickscan is all green. What else i can advice you? You don't need swap partition, but having a realtime linux is a h...

Re: Ubuntu Studio 19.04 - tried to upgrade and have lost JACK, Ardour, Cadence amongst others

Ubuntu Studio has an amazing app ubuntustudio-controls that now handles the Jack server, similar to Cadence. And both ubuntu studio and kxstudio has their own distinct pro-audio optimization scripts. My point is that practically you and your system don't benefit from the fact, that you combine kxstu...

Re: AV Linux 2020.1.14 Release Candidate for testing only

Hey Glen, I am always satisfied to see your project back in action, now based on the latest Debian stable. I have a question (report) about the custom installer. In the previous versions, i remember an issue, that in order to install AVLinux on my PC, a mandatory swap partition has to be created. My...

Re: recording pulseaudio output

I will recommend to use pavucontrol. It gives you more options, compared to your desktop environment's volume control app. Use alsamixer (qasmixer, gnome-alsamixer) to check if your alsa levels are correct. For example my alsa volume level defaults on 40%, which makes my output very quiet, regardles...

Re: Cadence greyed out Device/Interface

It looks to me that your audio device is firewire. You should try to tune it from the firewire tab. Try to install alsa-tools as well. Check if you have alsa-plugins + alsa-firmware. Thankfully you have Arch Wiki, which is a great repository of knowledge. PS: Cadence is a very tricky app, so make su...
