Re: LMMS CPU time overload

I don't think you want to use LMMS with JACK. Use it with alsa if at all possible.

Re: optimizing firewire settings

Firewire is pretty much unusable on my system without a realtime kernel. I would start there.

Re: [SOLVED] JACK Notes Sound Blaring, Distorted, Crackling.

Anyway, if/when you do try JACK2 again, remember the --sync option, it might be of some use. The sync option has helped me run lower latencies with fewer xruns but for some reason none of the session managers would work with it. For instance, if I used nsm to start a jack client and close it again ...

Re: Mixbus problem after udpate

I don't have Mixbus in front of me right now, but I'd suggest creating a dummy test account and running the new version with it. Look for files it creates or changes in the account's home directory and it may give you an idea what it changed in your home directory.

IIRC, it worked with Ardour 2, but I was never able to move the playhead when Ardour was time master.

Re: Ardour3 can't loop when using JACK transport??

Well I can confirm it doesn't work here either. I thought it was a nice step forward that we could actually move the playhead around when Ardour was transport master. Now this is a step back.

Strange. I could have sworn it worked but I can't look until tonight.

Re: NSM & Guitarix

Just curious, but do you run jackd with "-S"? It's caused problems for me with session managers when they try to shutdown apps.

I've been liking the GVerb+ reverb from Harrison Consoles. Their "3D Triple Delay" is pretty nice too.

So I guess they never fixed the jack-session support, heh... :(
Nope. I was hoping the last update would have fixed it. I assume this means there's more to it than the name of the snapshot.

Re: recording to a drumloop

You could also run another app (like Qtractor) as time master.

Ardour 3 doesn't have this problem.

Re: MP3 play along

1. Amazon

2. Audacity has an effect that can be used to slow down audio without affecting the pitch.

I don't think there's anything special about Amazon's MP3's. Does the version of Banshee you're using support MP3?

Re: PyDAW progress

IMHO, Dave does enough by saying "Jeff's opinions have really riled some folks". I think getting more critical would just invite a flame war. Why is it that the "you don't need JACK because ALSA is good enough" crowd always ignores those of us with firewire devices? It's a lot ea...
