Re: Problems with Harrison Audio plugins?

Ah yes, I too have had occasional problems with AVA plugins, although I only have LegacyQ and Mastering Equalizer. It was definitely graphics/OpenGL which is fixed now. I just downloaded and reinstalled the latest version harrisonconsoles of AVA. Both those plugins working fine. Havent tried the new...

I am a bit worried, I might be too white, to create funk.

Maybe you need to get some Bootsy Collins, Nile Rodgers, and Bernard Purdie pills.

Re: kernel 6.6

@wintpe I've had to do that for years with my Audiophile 2496 (same chip as Delta 1010). Kernel versions don't make any difference.

Re: Set rtprio for Reaper

Liquorix is not an RT kernel so won't have CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT=y I'm wondering if maybe the second line undoes the prior? No it doesn't. I never set rtprio for applications, only for audio group which is set up automatically by install of jackd. /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf: @audio - rtprio 95 @a...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now?

This is album of the year for me. His first for 21 years and as good as his best past ones. I've listened every day for the past week and still like it more each time. Re: Mitigantions=off?

I just did a quick search of Phoronix about this. For some older processors the hit can be significant - up to 39%!: Benchmarking The Linux Mitigated Performance For Retbleed: It's Painful But newer ones have mitigations built in so it impacts less: Intel Raptor Lake Mitigation Impact Performance Co...

Re: kernel 6.6

su - That explains why "everybody" uses sudo: in Ubuntu and derivatives the root account is disabled by default. You can enable it but why go through the trouble if you can just use sudo if you temporarily need root privilege? One may go to the trouble of initiating a root terminal if one...

Jack is cross-platform, how about Pipewire?

Is there someone using Jack not on Linux? Not for developing Jack for non Linux environment.

JACK is available for Windows. https://jackaudio.org/faq/jack_on_windows.html

I would rather discussion on Pipewire 1.0 continue in the new topic. While this one has some good information it also has quite a lot of misinformation and misinformed opinions.

Re: Metadata (Composer) in Media Players

cantata.jpg I also really like Cantata and it does indeed have the option to display Composer. Just click on the playlist title header and select it. For tagging, I don't know of a CD ripper that automatically tags with Composer, and that may depend on whether that is in the tag database, CDDB or M...

First, let us raise a glass in honor of all those LinuxMusicians who no longer add life and spice to the community here. Second: I must've missed it, but I cannot find the profile page for @j_e_f_f_g any longer -- has he "left the building"? Seems very unlike him, somehow, to have request...
