Re: Linux Mint recommended software
I personally like Qtractor. There are some others available as well. Ardrour is a good DAW that many people use. There are also some others like Audacity. Although I personally only use Audacity for editing audio files. I prefer LMMS for midi. Others here on the board surely have many great recommen...

Re: Show your Desktop
This is my desktop. I'm just using gnome on Fedora. It's pretty good. I miss plasma. But I get great performance with wayland on gnome for what I use the desktop to do.

Re: RX 6400 Radeon GPU
I installed this for a light gaming / music making computer. Goes well in those old dells with half height slots and i7 cpus. Effortlessly supported with solid drivers in Majaro. So glad I got this instead of the nvidia equivilent. Not sure how I missed this post. But yes, I have a very similar set...

Re: Recently switched away from the *buntus
So, lets agree here, there is no THE BEST and, there is no the best linux distribution for Musicians. Musicians are not all the same....there are smart and naive linux musicians, there are rich and poor musicians, there are musicians who are focusing on real time recording and pushing the latency d...

Re: Recently switched away from the *buntus
Does antix work with KXstudio? I don't know honestly. You could ask the Antix User on the thread. I'm sure they would know. Hmm, I had to edit this. Do we have any Antix users on the thread? haha I don't know for sure, but I really don't see why it wouldn't work. Thanks, Im testing AVLinux at the m...

Re: Recently switched away from the *buntus
I definitely like Devuan and Antix as well. I have a Devuan install on a Dell laptop from 2002. I don't really use the gui too much on it. :D Does antix work with KXstudio? I don't know honestly. You could ask the Antix User on the thread. I'm sure they would know. Hmm, I had to edit this. Do we ha...

Re: Recently switched away from the *buntus
Yeah, that's a very bad approach given the mistrust related to snap in general. :D I suspect they are gearing towards Canonical being bought out by Microsoft. Snaps are like .exe files which need .NET environment to run! :| I know they've been positioning themselves since around 2018 to sell. So, n...

Re: Recently switched away from the *buntus
On my new machine I have Debian only, the old one had Arch and Debian - so I could try Pipewire and all the latest stuff on one distro, but still have my stable one for normal "work" (I mean music, photography, and so on). It's Debian stable with backports - that kernel 6.x helps with the...

Re: Recently switched away from the *buntus
I have manjaro installed for a system installed purely for games. Initially I had the KDE spin , it constantly updated to the point of being annoying and after a few weeks something broke in the graphics that ruined games FPS so I replaced it with the XFCE and have had no problems since. Otherwise ...

Re: Recently switched away from the *buntus
I used to use Ubuntu and derivatives but I switched to Arch based stuff a few years or so back and much preferred it. Then recently, I switched to 'Nobara' which is a modified Fedora. I've never used Fedora or anything based on it before this. I found that in the first couple of days I had a couple...
